And I didn't like this serial though I am appreciative of both the lead actors' previous works.
First of all, this serial is too fictionalised in respect with a mythological serial .
It's OK to fictionalise some story or even a distort a little to make things more dramatic.
But this serial is TOO absurd if you think it as a mythological story.
Entire situations and the personalities of the characters as depicted in the scriptures have been distorted
Like in yesterday's episode, they showed that Parvati didn't know Shiva from the beginning and their love story started with a fight (it was too Ishqbaaz).
Also they showed Sati as an arrogant princess while she is depicted as a kind hearted but determined woman as in the scriptures.
And even if you stop thinking it as a proper mytho drama and consider Mahakali as a costume drama with characters pretending to be Hindu Mythological figures, even then you are disappointed with the story and the presentation.
Characterisation is of the worst quality.
The female lead is so weak that you can't relate with her.
This show's male lead is less of a husband and more of a coach to our heroine.
But the biggest problem of this show is that the screenplay is too weak.
Often you notice how the scenes do not connect to each other at all and everything happens quite abruptly.
Story development is also extremely poor and doesn't allow
It really has started to give off the impression that either the editors are forced to edit 1 week of footage in 1 episode or the writers are cutting short the entire story to fit the 1hr biweekly format
Among the actors, Pooja sharma is easily the best among all the actors but still, her character is so weak and unrealistic that you can't help but not relate with her .
SRJ, who plays the male lead, is a poor choice for the exact role he's playing.
His face has no expression which makes one wonder whether he has been signed up for the role of Mahadev or one of the Zombies in The walking dead.
Oh, zombies in the walking dead has more expressions on their face than this "Mahadev "
His dialogue delivery is rude -ish and doesn't have the calmness and gravitas characteristic of Mahadev
.
Abhaas Mehta as Sumbh is a good actor but not an interesting villain.
Danish Akhtar Saifi as Nishumbh suffices his purpose in the show.
Not good, but not bad also.
I'm not talking about the other actors, but I feel the producers could have opted for a younger and interesting Indradev.
Also, what destroys whatever flow the story of the show is the endless live commentary delivered by SRJ in his typical and boring style of dialogue delivery.
Sid T should realize that not all people like SRJ 'S bhashaans and stop Mahadev 'S gyan pradaan sessions in this show immediately.
That might bring a positive change to the show.
Costumes and makeup is probably of the worst kind.
The ladies who play Laxmi, Saraswati and countless other goddesses could have looked like goddess and not aliens if they had good makeup and beautiful Saris to wear instead of those cheap sci fi costumes they are made to wear.
Also, what problems me is SRJ 'S beard.
They could have easily made him look a little bit more Mahadev if he was clean shaven.
Basically, this show not only distorts the epic, but also doesn't care to follow customary representations of divine beings running all through the traditions
When the characters in this show neither behaves nor looks the Gods we know from the beginning , why call it a mythological show?!
Plus, the much hyped PooRabh chemistry absolutely sucks.
Also, someone needs to convince this abomination called Utkarsh Naithani to give up his pen and take up a non filmy job instead.
His scripts are worst of its kind
