It is believed ashwatthama worships in badrinath. When in morning badrinath mandir is opened , it looked like someone already had done pooja of lord Vishnu. Badrinath is said to be another vaikuntha for lord Vishnu on earth where lord Vishnu is resting.

Some people say curse period of ashwatthama is over as he was only cursed for 3000 yrs of kaliyug, some says he will be alive till end of kalyug

I believe he was named Suyodhana. I remember someone saying he changed his name himself. Dur-- doesn't mean anything bad in his case. Unfortunately, people believe it does because yeah...

Same as with Panchali which DOESN'T mean woman with 5 husbands. The Panch-- prefix ended up suggesting that.
