I think not just him but also Samb sometime did give suggestions to Pandavas. I read it here on the forum not in the epic itself so can't be sure though

I read somewhere satayki , Pradyumna & samb were trained by arjun also.

Pradyumna had defeated karna also once.

Both praduyuman & sambh were awesome warriors.

Its not folktale. This is mentioned in harivasma. Probably bhagvatam too. She was vajra s mother. Arjuna brings vajra back to indraprasth latter after krishna s death Mahabharata text talks about vajra getting indraprasth which he later gives it up to move back to Mathura
