He was pro pandavas , he was close 2 arjun & Abhimanyu both , he was trainer of Abhimanyu & upandavas.

I think not just him but also Samb sometime did give suggestions to Pandavas. I read it here on the forum not in the epic itself so can't be sure though

I read somewhere satayki , Pradyumna & samb were trained by arjun also.

Pradyumna had defeated karna also once.

Both praduyuman & sambh were awesome warriors.
