The moon light peeped through the small window covered with malati creepers.Arjun kissed her eyes and confessed. Till I return I cherish this moment and keep your blue lotus fragrance not leave me ever. " He hugged her closely as if absorbing her fragrance into his soul and body. Panchali threw his curls back and said with a tinge of depression in her voice." How can fate demand that I can not bear to face again and again? My whole existence becomes meaningless if you are away from me. But My fate is that bad that I will be thrown into this dreaded phase all through my life."

Panchali turned away from Arjun indicating her displeasure over the impending separation.

Arjun took her on his heart and took her face in his hands. She is right. They are the pawns in the game of destiny.They waited twelve years to taste the ultimate bliss together.

The twelve years in the forest in between five years of his journey to heaven and then the incognito war Indraprasth trip treasure hunt all these hardly let them be together. But after Aswamedha he would not leave her in wilderness. If he goes to Dwaraka he will take her.

Panchali raised her eyes and asked." What are you thinking seriously?"

Arjun smiled and promised." I promise we will never part again after Aswamedha. Believe me.Even I am fed up of moving away from you.Not again."

Panchali smiled her bewitching smile that mesmarised the archer par excellence who drowned himself in her ultimate love for him.

Next day Arjun went to the stables to select the sacrificial horse along with Nakula and Krishna.

He is half hearted,and dejected thinking of the fate of the horse that will wander with him all over the earth and then will be killed as an offering at the sacrifice.

We both will return triumphantly. Why not the same fate be ordained to both of us? If I am spared from offering myself the horse also should be saved.

Krishna enlightened him with patience." Parth the day the horse will get worshipped by proper mantras its soul will get ready to sacrifice himself.Sastras say so. And dont forget death is for body not for soul.

It will reach heaven after offering at the sacrificial altar.Now onwards develop strength and power to see the fact as it is. After Gita and Anugita nothing is left with me to preach you. I am drained. No more questions please. The total Dwapar yug share of questioning is over.

Arjun laughed and questioned." Will I then get a chance in the coming yuga to question you?

Krishna patted his back and pulled him towards the open space where all the best horses were relaxing on the grass bed. The evening sunlight made the horses shine in yellowish colour ,the tweeting of the birds indicate that sunset is going to happen shortly.

Nakul took them to the best of the horses that have every required physical attributes as told by Ved Vyasa Krishna and Arjun passed by them checking them properly. As they completed their walk they looked at.each other with dissatisfaction.Nakul asked them which horse they selected.

Suddenly Arjun turned back and saw another horse aloof and away from the group. He stared at it and walked faster. Krishna caught him up and said." Your wait is over."

Arjun recognised the horse. It belonged to Panchal,and it is of Kambhoja race.

Arjun touched its mane and muttered." Pavan you are here?"

Nakul was surprised. Yes it is Pavan. Years back his brother Arjun managed to mend the horse in Kampilya.It did not participate in Kurukshetra war. And Just recentlly it came from Panchal along with others.Arjun caressed the horse and asked affectionately." Pavan will you accompany me?

The horse strolled nearer and indicated his approval.

Krishna rubbed his hand over his face and said." May you be with my Parth and bless him with victory

King of Horses Pavan you are welcome to Aswamedha."

The horse won the hearts of all including sage Ved Vyas. He smiled at Arjun and asked." Looks like you both are familiar with each other. Since you are going with the horse it is essential to have that bond.Arjun sighed and replied." He is Pawan. But I feel bad thinking of his fate. Is there no way to keep him safe?"

While Ved Vyasa looked at him with surprise Krishna pressed Arjun's shoulder.He told the sage." Don't take Parth's words.You know how he is."

Ved Vyas laughed and retorted." Looks like another Gita is due. Go ahead Arjun. Because of you we are all gratified.His Excellence will open up only for you."

Krishna clasped Arjun by his waist and declared." No more discourses now onwards.Already he got so much. Maharshi Vyas You prepare For the sacrifice. Pawan will be the sacrificial horse.

Two days only left for Aswamedha inaugural ceremony. Three days the formalities take place after which Arjun has to leave with the horse. Draupadi should take Yajna Diksha along with Yudhishtir.

Then onwards strict rules should be followed towards eating and other daily formalities.

The Yajnasala was already built on the banks of river Yamuna . Maharaj has to live there in a hermitage and follow the daily rituals. Panchali should be with him till the end.

The evening at Hastinapur Royal palace looked splendid with the newly arranged lighting and flower decorations.Balaram Revati and Rukmini Jambavathi Lakshana and others came from Dwaraka.

Arya came from Kalinga that morning. She hugged Draupadi and wept." I can't bear with whatever happened.you suffered the most. I pray to Uma everyday to bless you with strength I came now to be with you while he will be away with the horse."

Panchali felt grateful for Arya's concern.Subhadra is busy with Parikshit. Devika Karenu Vijaya and Jalandhara had their own duties to fulfill. Draupadi got relieved on seeing Arya with whom she shared a good bond at Indraprasth.

Kunti always liked Arya and felt immensely pleased." Pray for Phalgun Arya. Goddess will listen to you. He has a difficult task ahead. He is not taking army also." She expressed herself with a shivering tone.

Arya folded her hands and said." Mata He is Narayan's soulmate. Narayan is Uma Parvati's brother. Both will look after him. Please be free from worries."

Arjun expressed his happiness for Arya's arrival." You are god sent. Your presence will offer great relief to Mata and Krishnaa." He admitted.

Subhadra brought Parikshit and sought blessings." Arya you are graced by Uma Parvati. Bless this son of Abhi with good health and long life.He is our life support system now." She gave him to Arya who fondly kissed him and blessed" Let my UmaParvati shower all her grace on this future emperor of Kurus."

Arya fell in love with Pragati." You got the beauty and grace of both your parents.Indraprasth's baby doll now grew up to be Hastinapur's crown jewel."

Pragati felt great. She has another Maasi who will tell her everything she wants to know about Indraprasth.

Krishna called Draupadi after dinner and gave her a black thread with a very small locket..." Tie it up on his right shoulder. He instructed. " But do it after all the farewell formalities are done." Panchali raised her head and saw the mischievous eyes of her Govind.

Malini brought a bundle of sarees that are to be worn by Panchali during her Yajna Diksha. All those were simple and made with light material. She told her." There are many. You can freely go through the formalities. Since you have to sleep on a mat these will give you warmth also.

Panchali did not ask her who got them for her. She knew it. Years passed but his concern and love remained the same.She is blessed. It is true.

Two days before the inaugural ceremony of Ashwamedha Hastinapur geared up for the great sacrifice and The commencement of Arjun's March with the horse. All through the day Arjun along with Bheema

Stayed with the select few of the army and gave them the last minute instructions. He also looked after Pawan who has to bear with rigorous travelling and adjust to all kinds of situations.

Krishna is with him all along and motivated him with his inspirational talk.

" Parth do your duty with single minded focus.Dont let your spirits get dampened by misplaced kindness and softness.Talk to the Kings patiently and make them understand the necessity to bring Aryavarth under a single umbrella.But if they are reluctant to accept your request don't hesitate to use power.Even though I am staying back I will still be with you in your chariot.You will feel my presence all the while."

Arjun hugged him and confessed." I know Madhav I experienced your presence when I went for Pasupatastr.I will try my best to manage without bloodshed. And I will lift my Gandiv if it is inevitable"

Bheem told Arjun." I very much wish to accompany you.But you know Hastinapur should be taken care of. I know you will return triumphantly."

Arjun smiled and assured him" Bhrata Bheem You take care of everything here. It is not a simple task. The elders are to be attended. Eldest and Panchali will be in Yajna Diksha.Take care of them. You know Panchali is too fragile and weak now. The amount of troubles faced and the death of her children made her lifeless. On top of it again she has to go through this strict lifestyle. I am worried about her health. Bhrata You please be with her . She needs support. Madhav may again go to Dwaraka for a brief while.So I will surely return back with the horse. I hope I will return within six months."

Bheem hugged his brother affectionately. He said." Arjun. I know how much she suffered when you went away for five years. Again your absence may crush her spirits. But I will always be there for her. You need not worry on her behalf."

Subhadra asked Arjun to return as early as possible.She said looking deeply into his hazel eyes." You know I consider myself fortunate because I have Abhi's son in my hands. God took away my precious Abhi but compensated by gracing me with Parikshit. But Panchali is deprived of such happiness.She never tries to intrude and demand a share regarding Pari. It shows her magnanimity. I feel bad for her again she has to lead that strict procedure filled life. On top of it,you are moving away."

Arjun kept silent. Years of co existence made Subhadra realise Panchali's goodness.Now they both are matured and respect each other's position in his life.

Arjun entrusted Draupadi's responsibility not only to Bheem but also to Pragati and Arya. Pragati clasped his neck and assured." Pitasri, I will never leave her . If I want to play with Pari I will call Arya Masi to look after mother.

Arya made things easy for him." I will live in the hermitage with her. I start my Katyayani Vrat there . Ma Uma would take care of you always."

Arjun was delighted. His devotee wife sure is a blessing for him.

After the dinner Yajnaseni waited for him with the sacred thread given by her Govind that she has to tie on his shoulder.Next day onwards she should dress herself up in sarees that are meant to be worn during Yajna. But this night she will appear very much as Arjun's Krishnaa .

Draupadi stood before her mirror She wore a light grey and white simple silk saree with a beautiful white upper garment. Her long plait hung on her hips with jasmines touching her waist as if asking" lol your Arjun is going. You won't touch us again."

Her beautiful lotus eyes looked dreamy anticipating her Atjun's passionate look on her. Yajnaseni waited longingly to meet her beloved who won't be seen for a long time ,She heard Arjun's knock on her door and walked towards her destination.

Arjun walked inside and looked around. It is nearing mid night and except for the night guards alerting each other every half hour ,silence is ruling the roost. Draupadi's chamber has only the oil lamps that are looking dim as the brighter ones were intentionally kept away by the queen herself.Arjun wondered when would he feel the ambience again? Not known to him.

The blue lotus fragrance entwined his body and forced him to come out of his parting thoughts.

Panchali took away his upper garment much to the delight of Arjun.Great ! His queen is in perfect mood it seems. As Arjun turned back to greet her Panchali finished tying the black thread given by Govind on his right shoulder arm. She then arranged his upper garment properly.

Arjun understood what happened. She is into tying the thread but not as he assumed. The perfect mood he thought . Arjun felt disappointed and asked her seriously. What are you tying?

Panchali answered touching it with her small finger." Perfect. Keep it safe especially when you take bath.Dont ever remove it right?"

Arjun pulled her nearer and looked into her eyes." Why? You lost faith again? I am going for conquest. Not for other purposes." He sounded hurt.

Draupadi smiled with amusement." Ofcourse. I won't believe you. I have valid reasons Arjun,you know it. But this thread is for something else." She stopped and looked into his hazel eyes.

Arjun observed her jasmines,her hair,her beautiful face,her conch like neck and waited for her words.

Govind asked me to tie it. And I did so. May be this is for your well being.Keep it intact." Panchali finished her explanation.

Arjun raised his eyebrows and nodded his head." Since when Madhav became superstitious? He asked reluctantly.

Panchali loved his expression and moved nearer to him." You can't say so Dhananjay. We both love you the most." She confessed.

Arjun felt elated hearing her honest truth. Even if he hears those words a million times by now from her,he still feels the thrill.

Panchali widely opened her eyes and gazed at his face,his great physique and felt the pain of separation." Come back soon Arjun, She whispered in a low voice. I can't bear to live without you."

She admitted.

Arjun hugged her closer and kissed her earlobe." Neither do I" he said in his manly,husky voice.

The passion of Arjun lapped up Panchali's body and soul making her breathless.

Why do I still not satisfied even if I made love umpteen times? Arjun asked drowsily.

Panchali smiled her beautiful smile." Because, We are meant to love each other. Because your Krishnaa is for you in word and deed." She murmured,

The night 's cool breeze went back disappointed. It could not over power the heat of passion that rounded up the couple with its force. The eternal lovers reveled in their love for each other.

Next morning the formal inauguration of Aswamedha commenced. Many well wishers attended the ceremony and extended their wishes.Dhritarashtr and Gandhari blessed Dharmaraj whole heartedly."

" Let your Aswamedh bring laurels to whole kuru clan . May you be hailed Chakravarti Samrat."

Kunti had tears in her eyes.Once this Aswamedh is done successfully nothing else is left to be desired.

She can peacefully proceed to meet her husband and say" All your wishes for your children got fulfilled. Maharaj Pandu I stayed with your sons till they achieved everything.Now I want to get the opportunity to be with you atleast in heaven. Madri should share her good fortune with me."

Arjun hugged Kunti and brought her back from her thoughts. " Wipe your tears. You are the mother of Chakravarti Samrat Yudhishtir who performed Rajasuya and Aswamedha."

Kunti patted his cheek and said." I am also the mother of the invincible warrior who made it happen."

Arjun smiled at her whose eyes exhibited the pride of the mother whose son is Arjun Ofcourse.

Veda Vyasa Paila and Yajnavalkya conducted the initiation of the sacrifice with due formalities.

Yudhishtir wore a red Dhoti and deer skin. He sought the blessings of The Supreme God and the gods of quarters.The sacrificial fire rose higher and looked auspicious.

Arjun stood with his Gandiv ready to move. Krishna placed his hand on Arjun"s head and closed his eyes.Arjun felt a great power merge into his soul and body.

Ved Vyas raised his hand and uttered benedictions." May the blessings of your ancestors guard you forever.The horse will return back with you as the victor. May your fame spread every where.Dhanjay Victory waits upon you."

The horse was decorated with gold and a fine silk garment was placed around its body.

Draupadi brought Arti Thali and Subhadra stood holding Parikshit Arya and Pragati did Tilak to Arjun.

Panchali prayed to Durga and raised the thali suddenly the thali fell from her hand with a panicked Panchali trying to get her hand on that.Within a moment she found the thali back in her hand safely.Panchali found Krishna who held the thali with an assuring smile."Nothing to worry. The Aarti is safe. " He said. Panchali held the Jyothi nearer to Arjun's face and looked at him. Her eyes showed her fear and anxiety She did not come out of the minor disturbance that happened . Arjun smiled at her and said." Madhav is with me. Don't get disturbed by such things."

Arjun then turned to Arya and said." Tell her that your Uma Parvati will protect me always."Arya nodded and smiled at Panchalli

Subhadra told Parikshit." Ask your grandfather to come back early and safe."

Arjun kissed the baby and caressed Pragati." Here I go here I come." He promised.

The whole Hastinapur came into the streets to wish their Rajkumar Arjun.Men women and children thronged the streets to have a glimpse of him. The crowds went berserk and pushed each other to have their fill.Men felt there is none in this universe who can defeat The third Pandav

Women felt that despite age catching up Arjun looked youthful,handsome and energetic.

Children chanted his different names and wished to be an archer like him.

The horse first reached Trigarta country. Arjun remembered the Samsaptakas who were killed by him at Kuru kshetra.The present ruler of Trigarta Suryavarma challenged Arjun.

Arjun tried to change his Mind from resisting. But he did not listen.Arjun was helpless. Gandiv's twang resounded all around.
