As the Pandav Brothers in our favorite epic are about to wrap up all the ADHARMA soon and then go off air soon I thought that I would post a topic where we can discuss how we got hooked on this epic series call Mahabharat and then became obsessed about it.😉 Some of us started from the very first episode and some started later but at this point we are all sailing or I should say rocking the same boat.

So here goes my nothing:

I have been fairly inactive in I-F for past year and half as there was nothing that appealed to me where Indian Televisions is concerned for a while but I still came here once a day to see what is happening(guess not so inactive) and see if there was anything that I could watch but alas! I couldn't find anything. About three weeks ago I had a break from work. As I was being moved to a different department after I got promoted I had three weeks off so that the offices can transfer my clearances. So here I was with three weeks free out of the blue and nothing planned to do. Couldn't plan anything cos hubby dear was working.

I am a huge Arrow fan. So two days into my first week off i was browsing youtube for the Season 3 promo of Arrow and I hit jackpot. There he was, in all his glory, the warrior with compassion Arjuna in the little video thumbnail on the right waiting for me to click on it. And in that lucky moment I clicked on it and I was mesmerised. The stance of a warrior with calmest expression of his face he took my breath away. It was the Kunti and Arjun Promo. Then I sat there and watched the whole Mahabharat in 4 days.

Initially I started watching it for Shaheer cos I loved his portrayal of Arjun. But as I went on I liked the performances of every character. The casting of this show is done very cleverly and all the actors do a magnificent job. The story is not dragged most of the times. The actors even make the distortions to the original story more digestible. Even though I am a Shaheer/Arjun fan I absolutely love how Aham Sharma did Maharathi Karan. The misjudged warrior is always shown as an out an out negative character but I like how CV's show him as gray and Aham did a fabulous job. All the actors have adopted all small and big things of their characters, created history and made me obsessed.

So here was my story and I know it got a bit long but it is my first topic post in a really long time.

Please share your stories on how you got hooked to Mahabharat.

Blues😉

PS: Am I the only one who hates that metal net bracelet they make Shaheer wear?

I had mahabharat as a subject in my 7th too which gave me a basic idea of the story but i have never watched mb on tv properly so when i came to knw that star plus is making mb i was pretty much very excited!! The promos looked fab so i gave it a go!! Then after sometime i started visiting the forum and increased a lot on my mb knowledge!! The EDT made me hooked to it and that is how i am in love with this ⭐️B with all its distortions and all!!

Nice post Blues..

I am an ardent fan of history and mythology and also Literature. I had interest in Mahabharat. Once I came across this promo of Mahabharat, (only Krishna playing the flute.. that is all. ) And then I decided to watch the show. Like BRC used to come on Sundays only (I wasnt born when BRC used to come. I have seen some episodes on YT) I thought this too would be only on Sundays. But then slowly more promos started to come. I did not know ANY of the actors. I did not even care to find out after a month of watching also. 😆 When I saw the actors, my reactions was average. I am a big Arjuna fan. (character) I was excited to see Arjun. Though I did not even know his name is Shaheer Sheikh. I just felt I had seen him in some other show (KMHL). I started watching the show, and only after 22nd November did I bother to find out Arjun's name, and then searched on twitter... and... 😉 met the most lovely people.
So that is how I got hooked on to the show. I loved the first episodes... LOVED. But slowly they started distorting the story..

Great post...

I guess, I got to attached to Mahabharat, bcoz of Draupadi.
She is my favourite character, in the epic, apart from Lord Krishna. 😊
And it was my curiosity, as to who's playing my favourite character, and how will she be portrayed, that got me attached to Mahabharat.
By the way, I love Arrow too...Just love Oliver and Felicity. 😳

Ahhh...this is such a brilliant post!! 😳

My journey with the great epic...how did it all begin?

To be completely honest, I don't know myself...

When I was a kid (and I mean, a chhoti si bachchi), DD used to have reruns of BRC.
But I never used to bother...😆😆

As a kid, I was quite fond of reading. So, my mum got me some brilliant ACK comics - one of which was "Mahabharata".
So, THAT was my first-ever exposure to the epic. I'll be honest - it caught my interest mainly because it was a comic...😛

Come on, you can't expect a 6-year-old to devour KMG or something!! 😆
But, I still didn't "get" the story...😭

Time-leap of 6 years. In Class 7 (I was about 12 years old), we had to study "Sankshipt Mahabharat" as part of our curriculum.
And I struck gold here. Because our text-book ALSO included the post-war stuff...👍🏼

And, slowly but surely, I started getting an idea of what the story was about.

The brilliant part was that our text book had a character guide, and also included stuff about Shakuntala, Dushyant, Bharat, etc, etc.
Extremely helpful, you know...😃

This stuff stayed in my mind for a long time.

What really got me hooked on to the epic?
Vyasa's complexity of story-telling. And the layers of personality that each character in the epic possesses.
It is truly a fascinating tale.
A story that took place 5000 years ago. If we're still having such intense debates and discussions about it, there must be SOMETHING about it, right?

Come to 2010. Star Utsav started having reruns of BRC.

And, sometime around early 2013, I learnt that a certain channel called Star Plus was going to show "Mahabharat"...I thought,"Brilliant!!" 👍🏼

Little did I know what would be in store for me...🤣

Now, why did I decide to watch the Star Plus version?
Only because of my love for the epic as a whole. Only because the show is called "Mahabharat".
Not due to any character or actor involved...😉

And then, I finally decided to join the madhouse that is this forum. 🤗
And I've interacted with lots of amazing people here...👏

Today, as far as MB is concerned, KMG has now become my staple bread and butter. 👍🏼
And, I'm currently in the process of discovering the other versions of the epic as well...😊

And, needless to say...I've been dealing with everything that the Star Plus version seems to be throwing at us!! 😆😆😆

Thanks for replying Sayee.

Me too, history teaches you so much. I too have read the Mahabharat about six years back and that is why I did not start watching StarBharat cos distortions drive me crazy.

But the actors do a fantastic job.
