Ahhh...this is such a brilliant post!! 😳
My journey with the great epic...how did it all begin?
To be completely honest, I don't know myself...
When I was a kid (and I mean, a chhoti si bachchi), DD used to have reruns of BRC.
But I never used to bother...😆😆
As a kid, I was quite fond of reading. So, my mum got me some brilliant ACK comics - one of which was "Mahabharata".
So, THAT was my first-ever exposure to the epic. I'll be honest - it caught my interest mainly because it was a comic...😛
Come on, you can't expect a 6-year-old to devour KMG or something!! 😆
But, I still didn't "get" the story...😭
Time-leap of 6 years. In Class 7 (I was about 12 years old), we had to study "Sankshipt Mahabharat" as part of our curriculum.
And I struck gold here. Because our text-book ALSO included the post-war stuff...👍🏼
And, slowly but surely, I started getting an idea of what the story was about.
The brilliant part was that our text book had a character guide, and also included stuff about Shakuntala, Dushyant, Bharat, etc, etc.
Extremely helpful, you know...😃
This stuff stayed in my mind for a long time.
What really got me hooked on to the epic?
Vyasa's complexity of story-telling. And the layers of personality that each character in the epic possesses.
It is truly a fascinating tale.
A story that took place 5000 years ago. If we're still having such intense debates and discussions about it, there must be SOMETHING about it, right?
Come to 2010. Star Utsav started having reruns of BRC.
And, sometime around early 2013, I learnt that a certain channel called Star Plus was going to show "Mahabharat"...I thought,"Brilliant!!" 👍🏼
Little did I know what would be in store for me...🤣
Now, why did I decide to watch the Star Plus version?
Only because of my love for the epic as a whole. Only because the show is called "Mahabharat".
Not due to any character or actor involved...😉
And then, I finally decided to join the madhouse that is this forum. 🤗
And I've interacted with lots of amazing people here...👏
Today, as far as MB is concerned, KMG has now become my staple bread and butter. 👍🏼
And, I'm currently in the process of discovering the other versions of the epic as well...😊
And, needless to say...I've been dealing with everything that the Star Plus version seems to be throwing at us!! 😆😆😆
