When i was a child, I ran away from darkness,
those were my biggest fears..
Soon destiny threw me in same gloomy nightfall..
Those were my silent tears..
I chose darkness as my fate.
Accepting His will as a mandate..
I swore through life to keep on this veil..
Knowing well ..This would turn out to be a mistake..
They were villains for the world..
.for me they were my children...
A relief for my loud screams..
A hope in that lost dreams..
An Oasis in my barren Land..
I nurtured them with my own hands...
Is that my fate..or fruit of my deeds...
Why me..I asked him in vain..
He said.. they gave this world pain...
Pain.. What about mine..for a change..
Why my sacrifice in this game...
Just felt like writing from Gandhari's View.. She might be a grey character or villain for many but this character has always intrigued me...So thought of giving her a voice when there will be many voices against her...

Great poem...👏
I have honestly never understood Gandhari...
She was not a villain, but she was not a Devi either.
I have seen people treating Gandhari as a Devi bcoz, she sacrificed her vision.
But I don't see that in her.
She was a respectful lady, and she did go through a lot...

Thanks amrita😊

Gandhari is an interesting character. On end she gives this supreme sacrifice by blindfolding and on other hand she allows her children to be misguided by her brother.Probably she failed somewhere in inculcating good morals in her children ..she looses all her children as a result of that mistake...somewhere a big price paid indeed..

Thanks for sharing your views on her.:)

🤗 thank you diala ma.. and specially considering the fact that she bore all her children with so much difficulty... and they were so precious to her... they were her weakness..

some may see Gandhari as a selfless sacrificing woman who didn't want to surpass her husband ...

but i see her in a different light ... she had the all powers to do wonders ...
what a wife can so sometimes no one else can ... if she wanted she could be been the eyes of Dhritarashtra ... he could have seen the world through her eyes ... for me it wouldn't be surpassing but completing him in a lot of ways ... it would help him fight his insecurities ... she could have easily made him get on her boat but instead she jumped onto his where they both sank ... sank into darkness ...

she was a strong willed woman who could have change Dhritarashtra's perspective in some ways and also taken charge of her children ... bringing them up instead of leaving that part for Shakuni ... kids are venerable ... and it wasn't like Gandhari didn't know the values and hatred Shakuni was instilling in her kids ... as a mother that is your almost duty ... and if you fail there is no one you can blame!! ... this is a very important lesson in life that we should all learn through Gandhari

i believe whatever God has given us ... we should treasure them ... make them our strengths !!
