As far as my knowledge goes, the oldest version of Mahabharata which is considered to be the one written by Veda Vyasa do not have this part. Only later edited versions do have it. That is why probably your text book did not have it. Regarding his mistakes, I don't remember that I read anything more than him cheating with his Guru Parashurama. Other stories what we hear are mostly from local versions or lately edited Sanskrit versions.

Diala di I hv read dat Not only dat case but his curse frm Parashuram is also claimed to be an interpolation in a buk which I read recently though the logic itself is lame The avthor says Parashuram cudn't have taught Karna bcoz he lived ages ago.Maybe the person missd his name in d chiranjivi list😆

ya i agree with the base of the book though i mean if i would have been in dury's shoes i would have been highly pissed at karna for his promise to kunti

out of all three i would say drona was the most loyal kaurav commander unlike bheeshma he didnt give away the secret of his death nor like karna promised to spare pandavas

he was the most loyal to dury's cause even if he didnt agree with it.
