Regarding the poll question, I went with the first option.

He had been a warrior irrespective of his caste. He has proved his prowess even without his natural armour and earrings. He was still the Sarvasresth Yoddha on that battlefield of Kurukshetra. He didn't require any divine help nor protection. His samarthya was enough. The same can't be said for others.

And it's that same samarthya of his that I am betting upon. He earned everything on his own merit. It was his own decision to pursue archery. He seeked out Parashuram by himself. I know he had to lie about his ID in order to gain education but it's not like Suryadev vouched for him in front of Parashuram, did he? Like Ganga mata had done for her son, Devavrat.

I guess we really shouldn't discuss about who vouched for whom other than Karna, but as for Surya dev - he did the least to help his son compared to other divine father/mothers.

That is because surya dev is different from other demigods

He is part of panchdev or the five greater Gods who are considered most sacred and supposed to be impartial
