Foremost of all heroes, so dat must hv been spoken to tone down Arjun's ego. 😆
Lord counting all sins of Karna nd Karna bending his head in no reply... proves his sins as well as lord's view on him.

Also when Krishna visits Dwaitawana he says Mother Earth will quench its thirst with the blood of duryodhana dushyasana and karna...

Wonderful post Amrita di! 👏

I'd like to comment regarding the comparison between Kavach-Kundal and Shakti weapon. I feel that both can't be compared as one is offensive whereas the other is defensive. However, since Karna had desired to slay Arjuna using that weapon, its futility often influences some fans to conclude his armour's superiority over the destructive Shakti weapon that was incapable of being baffled.

Please provide citation regarding Krishna calling Satyaki - the foremost of all heroes, as far as i know, Satyaki of immeasurable soul have been used by countless times.
But you yourself said that Krishna's word is last, he said karna is the foremost of heroes and hence if you don't believe this - you will be contradicting yourself.

Arjuna faced many opponents before, neither Krishna called them his superior nor he praised them like he did Karna, so the your reason for this gets nullified

PS - It's not like I don't believe you Regarding Satyaki - the foremost of all heroes argument, it's just that a citation would help me

Krishna always used his illusive powers to prevent Karna from firing shakti. Indra created Ghatotkacha only to nullify that weapon. So, the argument of it being equal to KK is of no use since Indra already did the job to nullify it.

my comment was, Krishna said dat Satyaki is singly a match for Karna i.e. Satyaki can equal or excel Karna.
ya I believe in Krishna bt when two of his statements clash, one has to be chosen.

Krishna may never hv praised anyone else, bt he dint call them wicked, vile wretch or counted their sins in battle field like Karna's.

So, which statement is to be chosen, who will decide?, maybe you will choose the statement which you suits your interpretation and I will do the same.

Arjuna did not really wanted to kill an un-armed Karna, but Krishna wanted to encourage him to do it, if Krishna can lift a weapon and rush at Bhishma to remove Arjuna's doubts, then encouraging him by saying a few things is no big deal.

And secondly, the main reason why Krishna encouraged him was said by Krishna himself - Karna cannot be slain while he has his weapon in hand. There will be a moment when he is unarmed, it is then when you have will have the sole opportunity of killing him- meaning that if Karna would have got up on his chariot he would/might have been indestructible.

I agree Shruti.. Looking at both sides of argument with respect to DAAN, I think they are not realy contradicting each other.
Is it a DAAN ?
NO. It was exchange, a barter.. FROM KARNA's POV.
He did say to Indra that HE WILL NOT GIVE HIS KK UNLESS HE GETS SHAKTI IN RETURN. It clearly shows exchange. He also said that he intends to use it only once against Arjuna.
The Shakti could not be baffled. It was the greatest power against his greatest enemy in exchange of his greatest protection.
It can also be argued that Karna did not want to give it as a daan because he did not want Indra's name to be tainted..( He says that) But all in all it was an exchange and Karna thought he could vanquish Arjuna with it..
Karna did not know that Krishna would use his powers on him to befuddle his mind or he would be forced to use it on Ghato baby.
Was it an equal exchange ?
NO. Karna with his KK was unable to be slayed even by Sudarshan is what Krishna says. He lost his valuable protection and immortality with it. What he received was SHakti which can be used ONLY ONCE and that also tagged with lot of restrictions.
The plan was already rolled out to rob him of his divine power.
Simply saying he was duped.. So exchange was not of equal footing..

Krishna breaking his vow, dat was meant for Bhishm too, so it cant be taken as example. Breaking vow for two devotees nd using that type of language for non-devotee, there's a difference.

Him praising Karna's warrior skills is contradictory due to Satyaki statement bt him counting Karna's sins isn't contradictory. Krishna was delighted after his death nd never praised him after dat.

Nd Karna never ever defeated Arjuna. He was highly jealous nd obsessed wid him.

damn my net...

So citations can be taken up for defense.. it can be clearly seen that krishna was provoking arjun in that citation being posted as pointed by watcher.

Well when krishna offered draupadi to karna then many of you conveniently claimed that it could be krishna's leela .. he was not serious about that...but then if these citations you all produced show me the same ..that krishna didntmean it...or rather said only to provoke arjuna...then I might be biased delusional fan ..is it?

Anyways .. I came here to post my reply to title of your post... and yes since this forum believes in citations too much...

here citations after death of karna... great hero fell with respect and honor..that your post title asked...

"

He left the world, taking away with him that blazing glory of his own which he had earned on earth by fair fight. Having scorched the Pandavas and the Pancalas with the energy of his weapons, having poured showers of arrows and burnt the hostile divisions, having, indeed, heated the universe like the thousand-rayed Surya of great beauty, Karna, otherwise called Vaikartana, left the world, with his sons and followers
