I don't find Dhritarashtra unfit .. he was very powerful n had every knowledge to be a king .. his blindness don't really stop him to "See" the political situation as no king see everything happening in country in his own eyes .. the observation is made by apt information and reasonable deduction. if Dhritarashta was unfit then how come Pandu was fit? He was weak with a disease what in modern science we call anemia or Leukemia .. Pandu was named after his pale skin tone what was caused by lack of hemoglobin.
