What is wrong if one woman marries 5 or more men.?Why did women then think that they should be devoted only to one husband? And why did Krishna say adharm hai or adharm hi rahega
Come on then why did a man marry more than one women??That was not adharm???Men always got 2 to 3 wives to stay together ,whats wrong if women marry 4 to 5 men..Because druapadi's marrying five men was such a big issue, why?????😕😕
Hii I really like this question...I have also asked myself this earlier😆
From what I've read I've concluded that Mahabharata was written during Later Vedic Ages...in Early Vedic Ages women had a very high status in society. Devdutt patnaik had said they were masters of their own sexuality. Like urvashi, ganga, menaka, satyavati..all were very uninhibited women.
But in Later Vedic Ages they started losing their status..like Krishna said in the show that people had blindly started following paramparas..even caste system became rigid in this period
it's like a cycle I guess..in every age there is a period where everyone lives in an egalitarian society and then later on because of petty insecurity or need for power they start manipulating customs to suit themselves..
also I think they made star krishna say the adharmi dialogue just for drama and so that people wouldn't think he supported the marriage..it is adharm by today's standards bc we see it in context of 'wife sharing' but I guess during that period it must have just been a really huge shock..I could be wrong though, maybe there are citations on what krishna really thought about this?
Also in those times men had more than 1 wife for political purposes..since women were losing their power they didnt have same privilege..but in the end draupadi had the last laugh bc her marriage was politically beneficial to pandavas..they got drupad and his power..
