You did not get my point.
First of all, I know that Karna did not do everything that happened to Draupadi. So I am NOT accusing him of anything that he didn't do.
He did the following things:-
1.) Silenced Vikarna, coz Vikarna through his protests was spoiling the fun.
2.) Compared Draupadi to a prostitute, bcoz she had 5 husbands.
3.) He then continued by saying, that it is immaterial, whether such a woman is dressed or naked. So, disrobing such a woman is not surprising.
4.)Ordered Dushasen to disrobe her.
5.)Then told Draupadi to select one more husband. Since she already had 5, one more would not harm.
The rest of the work was done by Dushasen, Shakuni, Duryodhan.
N what did Draupadi say at her Swamvar?
1.) I do not wish to marry a sutaputra. Period.
This was certainly hurtful for Karna. But tell me, how else could Draupadi say no?
She would have been asked to state the reason for her rejection.
What else could she tell Karna?
I do not wish to marry you bcoz...Karna, u are not good-looking? U are not tall enough?
Bcoz u r already married? These would have been stupid excuses.
What else could she say to prevent him?
She spoke her mind n gave the honest reason for her rejection.
It was obvious for Karna to feel hurt. I would have felt hurt too, if I had been in his place. But the way he took revenge, was absolutely DISGUSTING.
Duryodhan, Dushasen n Shakuni were evil-minded. So, we don't expect anything from them.
But Karna was otherwise a righteous man. And honourable men like Karna DO NOT treat women like that, NO MATTER WHAT.
So, Draupadi's so-called "insult" was SOMEWHAT justified (IF NOT COMPLETELY), because:-
1.) Because although Caste System is condemned in the 21st Century, it was not so 5000 years ago. Women USUALLY did not marry men of lower caste. THAT WAS THE NORM.
2.) It was HER Swamvar. And the basic rule of any Swamvar was that the final decision would be made by the "bride".
3.) Bcoz, in 3000 B.C. Sutaputras were expected to act like Sutaputras, though this is unfair, in today's world.
4.) Draupadi did not directly insult Karna's character, his wife or anything like that. She only expressed her preference.
5.) She did not know that the man she's rejecting was none other than everyone's "beloved" Karna the Great. For her, he was just another suitor, whom she did not want to marry.
Her rejection hurt Karna immensely bcoz:-
1.) Karna was sensitive about his caste.
2.)Karna once again lost the chance to prove his archery skills because of his caste.
3.) Karna was an egoist to some extent, who could not accept the fact that a WOMAN had the "audacity" to be so out-spoken, n reject him, when she finally ended up marrying his arch-rival Arjun n 4 more men along with him. And this is clear, when he tells Draupadi that although "dasis" are not allowed to choose their lords, she will be given the chance to choose any one man to be her lord, since she was so "choosy".
So, Draupadi words did hurt Karna. I am not SAYING that what Draupadi said was right. All I am saying is, Draupadi CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be blamed for rejecting Karna, bcoz it was her life. So, she had every right to decide whom she would marry. But the way Karna retaliated was NOT justified.
Hence Draupadi's actions can still SOMEWHAT be justified. But Karna actions, along with his friends, CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED, NOT EVEN SOMEWHAT.
Even after reading this if you still feel, what Karna did was "somewhat justified" for the sake of being his fan, then be at peace.
I have nothing more to explain.
