I did not like POI at all! It is one thing to alter events but for characters and overall movement of the story to be the same. Here Panchali is in love with Karna! In that case why not create a book where Sita is actually in love with Bharat and may be accompanied Ram out of guilt or something?!

😕 I haven't read the book POI..even though I love Karna more than any other characters in MB,I dont like the concept of linking Droupathy with him.Everyone is intersted in awoman's feeling to someone other than her husbands..all these assumptions and fictional stories are arising from, that interest.

I donot like POI aswell

@Mr.WATCHER I know POI is fictional and author has her own interpretation and POV
I absoulutely agree with your point WHY would KARNA like somebody who insulted him???
and why would DRaupadi like someone who called her unchaste????
But unfortunately both of them love each other ...

WELL regarding the fictions I would like to say something
NOT every person likes every event in mahabharath .THere are certain heroic moments of certain characters which are not often appreciated by another group that is when you start imagining as to this should have happened in a certain way .
That is when you end up writing things ...glorifying your favorite character...
I am not against writing up your POV ..but character assasination of a pious woman like Draupadi shouldnt happen...
The saddest thing is Draupadi is taken for granted because of the fact that she lived with 5 husbands
Archana since you said you havent read the book let me tell you POI's Draupadi falls for Karna when she looks at his eyes in the portrait...
That is when POI's kanha diverts her and shows him Arjun's potrait yet POI's Draupadi is not able to get over those intense eyes...

SPOILERS in case some one is planning to read POI

I did read POI. And epic Karna is a character I really feel angsty for.

In POI, Panchali initially is attracted to Karna's intense eyes (whatever that means, some kind of Bollywood romantic nonsense), then marries Arjun/Pandavs on Krishna's instigation. The rest of the book she spends either pining for Karna or nearly constantly flirting with Krishna. Unless I am mixing up books here, there is even a point at which she wonders if she is waiting for Arjun or Krishna! Then Karna dies and his soul apparently envelops her or something. Finally she falls off the mountain, realizes that Yudhshtir did love her, and in 5 minutes realizes it was Krishna who really loved her. Then she floats into heaven and the story ends on her thought of being able to hug Karna (read: PDA)

I have watched day time soaps here with plots a lot simpler than that!

I am not against changing incidents, allegiances or even relationships in fan fiction. We know that is what POI is, anyway. But Draupadi's entire personality is changed. She is not shown as overtly religious even in the original Epic but she is intelligent, sharp and has a spine of steel. But here she is a nincompoop who cant make up her own mind on who she wants let alone be a part of beginning the great Indian civilization.

If you look at MB as a purely literary piece, it is an amazing work. How the pieces and people are moved into place and incentives provided to make a just war so society can be re-created. From that great work of art, the author took Draupadi who is as much a Mahanayak as Arjun and Krishna and turned her into Scarlett OHara. I almost expected Krishna to do a "My Dear, I dont give a damn" when she finally realized who truly loved her!. Then she was happy she could hug Karna. God, cant this woman make up her mind even after death or what? And I actually like GWTW. I just dont like it mixed up with MB

CORRECTION - The part where she is wondering whether she is waiting for Arjun or Krishna is from Yagyaseni not POI. But the rest of the criticism of POI still stands. SInce ⭐️Bharat started I have been devouring these books and got some of the things mixed up. Sorry about that

POI's krishna is a mean materialistic selfish person dont you remember
He was the person who was kabab mein haddi
otherwise there would be an ultimate bollywood romance and sapne and stuff between karn and Draupadi
Oh god POI's krishna is such a meanie

I have read half of it and believe me I read it with an open mind. I went in there expecting some epic love story between two angsty people. What do I get? A whiny, woe-is-me Heroine who just cant stop complaining. She has problems with everyone. And excuse me, where is the love story? She sees his painting and then he is her true wuv!!What kind of non-sense. I have read better Fanfiction. Dude, I even accepted Arjuna's heartless character. Because the author created her epic wuv story by trampling his character. He was like the thorn in her story which had to be done away with!! Because Draupadi constantly hopes Arjuna loves her back, then may be she would have forgotten Karna. Those Ancient, Sad Eyes belong to both Arjuna and Karna. Heck, who knows, may be Kunti was POI's Drau's true wuv, she gave those two Ancient, Sad Eyes!!

OHK this is my take on POI's DRaupadi
Draupadi :A lonely person who craved for love and affection from a family and her father who never cared for her.
It was only her brother Dhristhadyumn who cared for her and was her best companion. She is a person who loved palaces and Architecture and desperately wanted to have one for herself...
She was smitten by love looking at Karn's intense eyes ...then it was Krishna she also was intersted in a relationship with kanha beyond freindship ergggh
She actually thought that Krishna was interested in her...
At swayamwar it was not Draupadi who delibrately insulted Karna but her inner voice which she repented badly for at the very next moment...also karna insulted her and very next moment he started feeling her pain and had an urge to kill Dushyasan
and POI's ARJUN gaawd he is a jealous person who never cared for paanchali.
He actually asks his newbride to featch water from the well...from very next day
Kunti is another selfish creature in the list she wants to prove her DIL incapable before her sons...
At the end of the day POI Krishna ARJUna and KUNTi are very grey characters and Draupadi had learnt a lesson for rejecting Karna in her swayamwar...because all the while she had been worrying and thinking about his eyes only
SORRY I forgot to mention BHANUMATI and DRAUPADi were good friends who spoke about their common love KARNA

@thearcher a similar situation is there in Pratibha ray's yajnjaseni also..
Unless I am mixing up books here, there is even a point at which she wonders if she is waiting for Arjun or Krishna!
But I cant doubt the intention of the author in this case..Lord Krishna is not yet another man to lure on..Divine love cant be compared with that of human beings..
Pratibha ray's Droupathy too have respect and concerns for Karna..She had even clues of him being Kunti's son..But the relationship has never crossed any limits..
