They were indeed awesome. And his style of writing influenced me so much, that another member, also a Munshi fan, remarked that my writings showed unmistakable signs of the Munshi influence.

The parting message which Krishna gives to Satyaki about Rukmini just before going to meet Kala Yavana, still brings a lump in my throat.

Krishna giving assurances left, right and centre at Draupadi's swyamvara is beguiling...Satyabhama's transformation from Satrajit's daughter to a Hero's wife...the incident when Krishna Dwaipayana breathes his heart and soul into the vedic mantras to revive a dying Shantanu...

Munshiji..my humble pranams to you for having created this genre of mytho-fiction- long before all the Devdutt Patnaiks, Amishs..etc came along.

15 Most Amazing Predictions for Kali Yuga from the Bhagavata Purana

In the last canto of the Bhagavata Purana there is a list of predictions and prophecies about the dark times for the present age of Kali Yuga. The following 15 predictions, written 5,000 years ago by sage Vedavyasa, are amazing because they appear so accurate. Despite the negative tone of these prophecies, there is still one bright spot for all of us, which is mentioned at the end.

Prediction 1:
Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day because of the powerful influence of the age of Kali.

Prediction 2:
In Kali Yuga, wealth alone will be considered the sign of a man's good birth, proper behaviour and fine qualities. And law and justice will be applied only on the basis of one's power.

Prediction 3:
Men and women will live together merely because of superficial attraction, and success in business will depend on deceit. Womanliness and manliness will be judged according to one's expertise in sex, and a man will be known as a brahmana just by his wearing a thread.

Prediction 4:
A person's spiritual position will be ascertained merely according to external symbols, and on that same basis people will change from one spiritual order to the next. A person's propriety will be seriously questioned if he dos not earn a good living. And one who is very clever at juggling words will be considered a learned scholar.

Prediction 5:
A person will be judged unholy if he does not have money, and hypocrisy will be accepted as virtue. Marriage will be arranged simply by verbal agreement, and a person will think he is fit to appear in public if he has merely taken a bath.

Prediction 6:
A sacred place will be taken to consist of no more than a reservoir of water located at a distance, and beauty will be thought to depend on one's hairstyle. Filling the belly will become the goal of life, and one who is audacious will be accepted as truthful. He who can maintain a family will be regarded as an expert man, and the principles of religion will be observed only for the sake of reputation.

Prediction 12:
In Kali-yuga men will develop hatred for each other even over a few coins. Giving up all friendly relations, they will be ready to lose their own lives and kill even their own relatives.

Servants will abandon a master who has lost his wealth, even if that master is a saintly person of exemplary character. Masters will abandon an incapacitated servant, even if that servant has been in the family for generations. Cows will be abandoned or killed when they stop giving milk.

Prediction 15:

Cities will be dominated by thieves, the Vedas will be contaminated by speculative interpretations of atheists, political leaders will virtually consume the citizens, and the so-called priests and intellectuals will be devotees of their bellies and genitals.

Despite all of these dark prophecies, there is one good quality in this age of Kali yuga:

kaler dosha-nidhe rajann
asti hy eko maha gunah
kirtanad eva krishnasya
mukta-sangah param vrajet

"Although Kali-yuga is an ocean of faults, there is still one good quality about this age: simply by chanting the names of Krishna, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom." (Source: Srimad Bhagavatam 12.3.51)

So let us take advantage of this special spiritual gift given during the dark times of Kali yuga to quickly raise ourselves spiritually through chanting of God's holy names.

Really did she say that.
Even i dont want to know about it.
I recently bough the book - The Palace of Illusions. This book talks about Draupai and Karna, which isnt true i guess. I talks about she always thinking of him .
I hated it and stopped reading. I repent buying it and want to give it off to someone.

the confession was more of sorts, I wished I had not said no to karna, then I would not have to face all the humiliation. Nothing wrong.

and except for yudi, all pandavas, specially bhim was very much troubled by it. Bhim considering the passionate nature of his and the aggressive way he loved her.
Then they saw yudi washing her feet. Bhim and ANS grew even more confused.
Then yudi asked them to hide in a tree at night.
They saw at night, draupadi come out , unaware of anything, completely naked, her hair running wild. She went to a banyan tree and sat there and all animals and plants and celestial beings of forest came and worshipped her.
They 4 younger pandavas realised who she was. She was shakti, she was laxmi. She came to them by being pleased with their penace in earlier lives and they could not even protect her, take care of her properly. She was due to be in the palace of palaces and yet here she is, living in a forest, as poorest of poor . It was their failing. Yudi used to wash her feet, as he was the only one with knowledge and he asked for her forgiveness daily. The others finally realise, they have no capability to judge her .
That quieted their minds.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

I loved palace of illusions. Its a brilliant piece of literature. you should be open to all sorts of interpretations. The characters lived 5000 yrs back, who knew what went on then. The book does a very good job of expressing the author's POV. But yes it is not Vyas MB.
As long as it is clear, there is no harm in enjoying a good book.

^^

At least someone is open to all interpretations, In this forum "That" book is like Voldemort, it should not be named, let alone discussing it.

I agree with this line of LeadNitrate, " the confession was more of sorts, I wished I had not said no to karna, then I would not have to face all the humiliation. Nothing wrong."

Her husbands did let down her, didn't they?, Can anyone point out what was wrong in the above line, because I dont find anything wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if some people say "tauba-tauba" after reading my post.

@Mr.Watcher I know you are actually right her husbands did let her down in a crisis situation...I also know POI's paanchali did like Karn in the very first sight.I also know POI's Arjun is a person who never bothered about Paanchali but I seriously cannot get the point as to why would she wish to have him after being called unchaste...?????also considering POIs karn was very much disturbed by Draupadi's disrobing...

Well, POI is not the utmost truth, Its a fictional book, you can believe what you think is wrong and what you think is right.

While I was reading the Vastraharan (KMG), When Karna said those things and ordered the disrobing, Nobody said a word, Bhima who took an oath of killing Dushashan the moment he saw him dragging her, Bhima who took an oath the very next moment Duryodhana showed his thigh, was quiet when Karna did his thing.

Any reason?, Nobody in that sabha ever blamed Karna, It was only after many talks, Bhima, out of anger, took an oath for Arjuna, and that too, there is no mention of Karna's crime. It seemed like he was angry with Karna because he is with Duryodhana, not for his crimes.

As far as I know, Karna had a male ego, if people can say, how can Draupadi wish to have him while he called him unchaste, We can too say, how can Karna like Draupadi while she insulted him during her swayamvar.

The argument can go both ways.
