Thank god shruti you made this post because i am completly confused now as to what Bheeshm's oath was and what is happening in the serial regarding it

1)Firstly the epic as far as i know his oath of serving the ruler of hastinapur is no where mentioned.This is the oath he took in sambhava parva

O fisherman, from this day I adopt the vow of Brahmacharya (study and meditation in celibacy). If I die sonless, I shall yet attain to regions of perennial bliss in heaven!'"Vaisampayana continued, 'Upon these words of the son of Ganga, the hair on the fisherman's body stood on end from glee, and he replied, 'I bestow my daughter!'

It no where mentiones his vow of serving the ruler of hastinapur that is widely believed to be the vow he took.Now even if we consider that he did take this vow it explains all his actions in the epic

2)Now starbharat-What was his vow as per this serial to serve the throne of hastinapur or to protect this throne and ensure dharma is establised.If its former how can he claim he can fight against hastinapur going agaisnt the oath he took and if its latter how can he make that promise to dhrit tomorrow which condraticts with his vow

I am highly confused.Can some one solve this confusion?

now I know this is mean but we have to remember that Shikandini was supposed to be a guy and was raised as a guy ...

but this citation does not clear one thing since here no loyalty or oath for throne is mentioned then how come bheeshma fought at kaurava side on the basis of this oath?

if bheeshma can forget this oath then let him forget his oath of not to marry and get him married to shikhandini waise bhi she is not going to change gender in show so better bheeshma gives legitimate heir with her than dealing with these 105 brothers issues also he can adopt karna he is anyway sympathetic to him

I think that his case was same as that of Drona and Kripacharya.Both of these men didnt take any explicit oath to fight for HP it was more like they were employed by that throne hence had to fight for them same goes for Bheeshm he may have not taken any explicit oath to always serve hastinapur but as 'Jesht Kuru' he was bound to fight for kuru's only
