Why are youth portrayed so rude and insolent?

Seriously, what is wrong with the characters of this series? 😕 They speak so rudely to elders! So many people liked Karna's characterization in today's episode, but I absolutely did not. Anyone can read the original story in Vyasa's Mahabharata. Karna was strong and determined there too, but he was not rude to Dronacharya or Kripacharya! He gave them the respect that they deserved as elders, but at the same time he made his point known. I respect the Karna of Vyasa's MB at least a little bit due to some of the good deeds he did, but I do not respect the Karna of Star Plus' MB at all.🤬 He was insolent to his father as a teen, and he was downright rude and insulting to Dronacharya twice. What is SP trying to prove? That Karna was an arrogant and rude character who did not respect or love anyone but himself? 🥱 SP has made the youth of Mahabharat so insolent and rude! They did this with many characters, including Amba and Ashvatthama. Are they trying to teach today's youth that it's okay to disrespect elders to achieve one's ambitions? Judging from what I've seen so far, I am truly apprehensive to see how they characterize Draupadi! 🤔

Sorry for my negative rant. I do not dislike this show, but I really really dislike how the youth are being portrayed. I did not enjoy today's episode because of the characterization of Karna.

Perhaps the CVs have forgotten Mahabharat was written thousands of years ago when youths weren't like this. I guess they are assuming Mahabharat took place a decade ago 😆

I didn't find Karna arrogant..you found him to be annoying perhaps because you dislike the character of Karna

In fact, no character is perfect in SP's Mahabharata except for Bhishma..

But yes he was shown to be rude..people may not like the characterization of Karna in this Mahabharata but they lovedAham's acting in yesterday's episode... 😊

I didn't think Karna was rude. I think they've made a lot of characters unduly rude.

I can digest it for the Kauravas - like Duryodhan insulting Kunti or one of the Kaurava brothers trash talking about Pandu. That's not unthinkable, even if it didn't happen. Although there is no way Yudisthir would have spared Duryodhan - he'd have pierced him w/ his javelin.

But as others have commented, Ashwatthama's attitude towards Drona is just unbelievable. As for Duhshala, they've made her an airhead - much like Brittney Spears 😆 But what was absolutely indigestible was Madri showing power packed attitude towards Kunti - that level of disrespect is unbelievable. As is Shakuni's smarmy behavior towards Bheeshma.

Similarly, showing Amba & Satyavati as uncouth really spoilt it for me right @ the beginning. Amba was a wronged woman, but in an attempt to glorify Bheeshma when what he did was evil, they totally blackened her character.

I too had voiced my fears in the story distortion thread. This is what I had written there
Biggest put off for me:
Total lack of respect shown by youngsters to their elders.

Have the CVs forgotten that this is a culture where we say

"Maatru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava".

Heck, even today- 21st century, in India, we don't speak the way Ashwathama is shown speaking. And that was Dwapara Yuga.

Are the CVs trying to "Americanize" our culture and heritage?

And this is Dwapara Yuga that they are showing. While speaking to elders, youngsters would not even make eye contact. They would respectfully look downwards.

And Duryodhana- whatever his negative qualities might have been, would not have been so outspoken to his guru. He would later on take advanced training from Balarama- and his behaviour pleased Balarama very much.

(Yes, it's called psychologically controlling the youth thru Media that is the most happenign today and see the effect it's having on our youth) Judging from what I've seen so far, I am truly apprehensive to see how they characterize Draupadi! 🤔 ( Tripple of what they showed Amba and Satyavati as it is Draupadi was a very fiery Lady - expect someone very violent and snobbish or expect just the opposite a bechaari sort of a person to play on the sympathy of Simpleton viewers.)🤢 🤢

Sorry for my negative rant. I do not dislike this show, but I really really dislike how the youth are being portrayed. I did not enjoy today's episode because of the characterization of Karna.

Don't be sorry dear you are right in feeling this. 👍🏼👏

[/QUOTET]

The characters are shown rude and bullies, because it is being made by a bunch of cronies who have no respect for either our religion or it's teachings or values or principles it has been teaching humanity ever since humanity started on earth.

Lets not forget that these people are from pop culture of the west where it is fashionable to be rude, it is trendy to be shown macho and for them being bullies mean impression jhadna on viwers these people believ ein being rustic and raw and boldy showing off their six pack abs. 😆😆😆 According to the people like them these things are most happening. 😕😕😕

All this is visible in the serial. 🤣 But how wrong they are they though that Indian people would get impressed by it so far whomever I have heard nobody is impressed in the least.

They ended up having just the wrong impression.

By the way even western people have a little bit more decency then people like these.

You are right people in that era were very respectful even with their enemies.😆😆

I just want to tell my opinion that despight what the Indian Media is trying to do to our people and especially youth, I have seen majority of kids in our country respect their elders care for their elders and juniors Yes we saw a slide down of values in them in last 10 yrs but majority of the chidlren think thru their heads and they have a heart of gold. I love all indian kids and have great respect and faith in them.👏❤️👏

I have a feeling in coming years they will shun all this and take us back to our roots. Golden era will come back to us.

Shruti even 10 yrs back our youths were never like this. And even today most of the youths are obedient and respecting elders. Very few of them behave ill mannerly, the CVs have made the youth look like that because most probably, they themselves are like them. Pity, their minds cannot think beyond this. 😆😆

Not just hear from grand parents but I also read in my class bookds such as eklavya and Arjun and Dron conversation during archery lessons where only Arjun says that he can see the eye of the fish, then there was one more story of Karn when he was a child, We read Amar Chitra katha as well. In school, during Library class, I read one thin book on Mahabharat that was my second book, that is how I came to know that in previous life who Pandawas were. My father is a member of Iscon and he was given a book of Mahabharat I read it. Since our childhood sacred granths have been part of our lives.
