In those days Hastinapur WAS grand and beautiful. As time has gone on, what is percieved as grand and beautiful has changed. If they showed the real life Hastinapur from those days on TV today, we might be less impressed as it wouldn't be as grand for today's generaton.

@ Red and Bold
That makes perfect sense. I think you have nailed it.👏👏👍🏼

Well, that may be, but the times were old, the life was simple, even the kings lived more sime lives than is depicted in all historicakl dramas. But anyways. If this liked by viewers, fetches TRPs and makes the PH and actors and the whole crew nice money, so be it. But I maintain my opinion.

👏👏 I completely agree with you, cheap technology looks unreal and To Much OVER and is a great put OFF even I am disappointed with this show and their over twisted dramatization. Even Krishn ji's Vaikunth Dhaam looks so unreal hardly a beautiful dream earlier I used to like it but so much of beauty has given my eyes 🤪

Yes even I found moving stones in Parshuramji's Cave was funny as if this cartoon was made 25 years back when we used to watch a cartoon movie BaBa they had animations like this.😆

Now the technology has advanced so well that even by Indian Standards I expect better if not like Hollywood. But if they had done some Hollywood style animation then that would not have been surprising because now so many Indians are going abroad to study animations and they should have hired those people.

There is hardly any mysticism in this Mahabharat due to too much glamor and too poor acting. It looks quite obvious that more focused had been put in fashion, glamor, looks, beauty, technology, etc rather then acting, performance, story telling, characterization of either the characters or Mahabharat Epic.
Yes, this Mahabharat is a PUT OFF for me 🤢.
I didn't even like the costumes or fashion not gripping or attractive. 🥱

Thanks a lot!
I agree on all the points.
But I do like the content of some segments. The outspoken Amba was really quite well interpreted.
So was a small scene between Ganga and Bheeshma where he thought Gandhari has tied her eyes out of vengeance and Ganga sked him if his decision never to marry was driven by vengeance too. A different POV was very subtly considered. And I had liked that.
Also the recent segment of Drona and Ekalavya ending in Drona breaking his own idol and feeling helples as a Guru was very well conceptualised. IHe justifying his actions to Arjuna and asking him to become the best archer in the world to relieve his guru of this sin was really well done.
I believe the interpreters do have true potential. Let them explore the content, do not kill the effect by Over using technology.

Not just the sets and the graphics. Even the personification of characters is completely wrong. Women were not so outspoken (except Draupadi- during one incident) , youngsters behaved more respectfully before elders
The whole serial is too loud and noisy...

Hastinapur may have been grand to look at, but waterfalls? Seriously, Hastinapur is somewhere in the plains- but which river causes water falls there?
And the only time Dhritarashtra displayed his strength was when he crushed the iron statue of Bhima after the war. There's absolutely no record of him having learnt any martial art whatsoever.

And Kunti / Madri were talking to Pandu as if they were 21st century wives. That was not the way women in Dwapara Yuga spoke.

Agreed

Even being what he was, Duryodhan would never dare to speak to his father the way he did and certainly not behave the way he did in front of Bheeshm, even I am sure Dhritrashtra was not so loud, larger then who he was
Women had more femininity but females of this MB are too masculine especially Amba and Satyawati, as for Ganga to me she was NRI model 😆 hindi bhi hinglish ki tarah sound karti thi 😆 and her posture was like a Model walking on a ramp 🤢

🤣 🤣

Actually women back then were more powerful especially when it came to their household they had a say in what went in their house and marital life they also made decisions and a husband would often consult with his wife to make some decision it is not new or unique.

I will give you an example, Mena Devi wife of Himawan did not want Shivji as her daughter's husband and even her husband was unable to bend her regarding that, and it was after she agreed and took decision that Parwati got marreid to Mahadev.

Yes, husbands were the heads of the family but women were also important and did hold some power in their marriage and family life. Atleast it happened in both Brahman and Kshatriya varn.

Well i really dont think any one of us can say how hastinapur looked at that time becuase none of us were alive that time to see it .The CV's interpretation of hastinpaur some may like it some may not but certainly our opinions are not facts
May be sets are a little more glamourised but that is teh trend these days look at yash raj and karan johar movies this is the age of glamourised things. In any case i dont concentrate much on the sets i like the story they are showing content matters to me that is all
Same goes for characters people interpret MB characters in diffenret ways this is CV's interpretation not ours but certainly our interpretation is not a fact nor is CV's.
Yes sets look unreal to me as well at times. But i am not comparing it to Lord of the rings or Avtaar or Game of thrones i am comparing it to other serials on Indian TV and i think we should appreciate their effort that is all
MB is a grand Indian epic and they are trying to present it in a grand way.Not every one has to like it

I do agree with you to some extent. But perhaps this change is for the new age audience.
Even I've felt the technology is a bit over used and they need to tone down.

Characters are loud...Star plus's effect 😆
I guess they don't know how to differentiate between our greatest epic and their trash daily soaps.

I just hated Madri's death scene. Bheeshm and only Bheeshm had Iccha-mrityu boon 😆
