Hey new Friends .

I am Rucha and I have been on IF for a while now, but this is my first topic on this Forum.

I have watched Mahabharat from the beginning, as I knew one of my Sanskrit teachers Dr. Madhavi Narsale was a content advisor. I must say, I was quite impressed by the beginning episodes, I had felt, and still feel, that content wise this is a fine interpretation but as I watched on, that first impression started fading out...

Personally I feel, there is too much glamour added in the new serial, with the help of technology. And to my sensibility, it kills the substancial content of the epic. e.g.

1. The panning shot of complete Hastinapur shown as a golden city flanked by waterfalls. It looks so fake and unreal. Hastinapur was not a celestial city or magic city, it was a real city. And the reality is completely lost.

2. Or the abode and prayer place of Parshuram - the way the stones moved at his will, the way the temple erected itself when he came to temple and then collapsed when he left. 😆😆

3. Or the way Dhritarashtra fights with Elephants, the fight again looks quite unreal.😕

4. Or the way Gods blessed Kunti with Sons. 😆

5. Or the way Pandu and Madri mated and died in a TULIP GARDEN, for God's sake! 🤢

6. Or the way Shakuni prepared a poison potion for Bheem.🤢

7. Even the sets of the Shiva Temple where Gandhari gave birth to the common soul of 100 sons and the abode of Krishna look completely artificial.👎🏼

I believe this should and could have been avoided.

They all look fake. I am not against use of advanced technology in mythological serials, but too much of it MUST be avoided.

Well, that's my opinion. Do share yours! Awaiting comments!!!

I like the over glamourised depiction of Hastinapur. The reason being:

In those days Hastinapur WAS grand and beautiful. As time has gone on, what is percieved as grand and beautiful has changed. If they showed the real life Hastinapur from those days on TV today, we might be less impressed as it wouldn't be as grand for today's generaton.

they r not trying to be 'real' , they trying create a mystic , grandeur and fantasy .. i like it .. with technology available now they r doing a good job .. the audience now with their HD tv wants see rich and colour ful sets which is very visual ... they r catering to this audience ..

Well if we compare it to the technology used in hollywood movies it will seem unreal. But we need to see it from Indian television standards. As per Indian television standards they have done a preety good job.Best they can do with the money and skills that India has

I have to disagree with you...Hastinapur was grand and CV's are showing it. Dhritrashtra was very powerful and hence the fight with elephants etc...you should enjoy the new technology and new interpretation...don't be stuck with old MB...

Welcome to India Forums 🤗
👏👏 I completely agree with you, cheap technology looks unreal and To Much OVER and is a great put OFF even I am disappointed with this show and their over twisted dramatization. Even Krishn ji's Vaikunth Dhaam looks so unreal hardly a beautiful dream earlier I used to like it but so much of beauty has given my eyes 🤪

Yes even I found moving stones in Parshuramji's Cave was funny as if this cartoon was made 25 years back when we used to watch a cartoon movie BaBa they had animations like this.😆

Now the technology has advanced so well that even by Indian Standards I expect better if not like Hollywood. But if they had done some Hollywood style animation then that would not have been surprising because now so many Indians are going abroad to study animations and they should have hired those people.

There is hardly any mysticism in this Mahabharat due to too much glamor and too poor acting. It looks quite obvious that more focused had been put in fashion, glamor, looks, beauty, technology, etc rather then acting, performance, story telling, characterization of either the characters or Mahabharat Epic.
Yes, this Mahabharat is a PUT OFF for me 🤢.
I didn't even like the costumes or fashion not gripping or attractive. 🥱

I said I like the content but the look looks very unreal. I am not stuck with old MB at all. I have not compared the new one to the old one on a single point in my post. Neither have I said I prefer the old serial. I just find the technology OVERUSED which in my opinion must be avoided. I rest my case.
