So asper what we have been shown in today's MB and the events we know will take place in the future i will say that Bheeshm may have won the battle from shakuni today but shakuni wins the war when MB war takes place and entire kuruvansh is killed
I mean shakuni's main aim was to destroy kuruvansh not to make duryodhan a king which he did when all kauravas along with their sons and elder kurus died even all of pandavas sons were killed
Yes Hastinapur did go to a deserving king in the end which Bheeshm wanted but he couldnt stop shakuni from tearing apart his family and destroying kuruvansh
So from the way i see it shakuni wins the war as his main aim is acheived in the end.His manipulations wins over Bheeshm's righteousness and his duty.Which again teaches us that it is never good to be too good

Nicely put Sabhyatha. I agree except for the last line😊
I think though Shakuni did manage to destroy the kuru clan, he did not and could not do it completely. His revenge became a double edged sword.. The reason for his hatred was his love for his sister.

Shakuni ended up hurting her the most and he also destroyed his own kingdom sling with hers.

As for Bheeshma, he has to go through everything because of the actions from his previous birth. But his Dharma and righteousness served him to achieve what he wanted finally.. Peace.. That was the fruit of his ways..

I can't agree with the people who use to say that, Shakuni's love for Gandhari made him doing all blunders. How can a loving brother destroy his sister's family & be the cause of her son's death? I think there was a seed of sin within Shakuni's nature which was nourished by Dhritarashtra's high ambitions & later helped to grow 100 poison trees of kauravas.

Another nice topic Sabhyata! All through MB, we get to see so many instances where the person who followed the right path ultimately had to suffer. So yes its never good to be too good and even Krishna taught the same thing to the Pandavas in the battle of Kurukshretra.

As per the MB book nothing is mentioned about shakuni's motivation or reason for doing what he did
But after interpretations by scholars few theories or stories have been added. The most popular theories are
1)He was angry with Bheeshm for marrying Gandhari off to a blind person he took it as an insult and henced vowed to destroy the thing Bheeshm treasured the most his family .Hence by ending Kuruvansh he acheived his aim.But like 'Justlikethat' and you pointed out he ended up hurting his sister as well. But that is the thing about revenge it makes you so blind you dont see whom all you are hurting in your path of revenge. That is why God's never bless an act of revenge
2)Another version is that Bheeshm imprisoned his family and gave them no food to eat so that they die of starvation and only shakuni survived. If you go as per this version i would say Bheeshm got what he deserved when kuruvansh was destroyed completely
