Yes of course! But that's half the battle...everyone assumes what was shown in that serial is 100% what happened. I meant the deviations weren't as bad as the newer versions, but again who decides what is true and what is false. You read one story in 5 different versions so we assume that is the truth and anything otherwise is false 😕

Actually come to think of it that happens with all the famous stories 😛 Take Harry potter for instance. There are a number of fan fictions available. After years it may get difficult to remember the original from the adapted version.

As for their characteristics only stayawati's character has been slightly altered she is shown to be ambitious which she wasn't in the books any of the books. But this alteration doesn't bother me since the essence of the story was maintained. The whole essence of this story was that devrath sacrificed a lot for his father's happiness and it came out so i am ok with this alteration

Amba's character hasn't been altered she was pretty vengeful and spiteful towards bheeshm even in the books so ther isn't much change here. Why is amba considered to be a vamp just because she wants to fight for her justice. Amba is same as she was in the books only stayavati is different but none of them are portrayed as cruel or vamps

Also i am curious to know what is so different in this version that makes you feel that you dont know Mahabhart at all. Essnece of all stories has been maintained only the events have been depicted in slightly different manner to make things more interesting

@bold:

its got nothing to do with this serial but with the underlined lines i have posted. i was talking about literary version.

Amba burning crops, for which in previous scene vichitravirya was getting death sentence, does seem cruel.

Yes they have excluded some stories but they have also included some others. For example they excluded shantanu-ganga love story but instead they have shown pashuram vs bheeshm war which did happen but was omitted in earlier versions.

Ved vyasa'a real story wasn't even depicted in earlier version

Pandu and dhrishrasgtra's birth thing we have to wait and watch they are yet to reveal dhridhrathra is blind may be when they do they tell us the back story so we have to wait

I an not trying to compare old and new MB all i am trying to see that if we see MB on TV some stories will be ommitted and that cant be helped as long as they maintain the essence of story .Old Mb omitted some stories so will new MB

As for other things they have included its for viewers to get more insight of the characters'. Amba burning the crops was shown to show the viewers that she wont forgive anyone who comes in path of her happiness and hence easier to understand her hatred for bheeshm. Gandhari being scared of darkness is included to show that a women accepted her greatest fear for sake of her husband. All these are not part of MB but yet help us understand and feel for characters. I dont know about you but i dont remember feeling bad for Amba in the old MB but in this one i do since her character has been given more screen space same goes for gandhari. iTs all so that viewers relate to characters more and feel their pain more.

I totally agree with your views...Essence is still the same...just little bit of change in characterization...other than that everything is as original as it is.
