gr8 discussion going on. though I'd like to add pls don't call this a mythology

My verdict so far is, I am not impressed so far.

I think, what's the point of remaking an old story, if you don't intend on making it better than the original in every way?

Their story telling is weak. Good costume, special effects, set, casting, etc. but weak story telling. They completely cut out Ganga and Shantanu's marriage and Shalya (Amba's prince).

Also Devrat's promise was made to Satyavati's father not Satyavati.

hindus have this habit of saying mythology to all stories related to our gods n goddesses. ever heard of islamic mythology or christian mythology? hinduism is not a 'myth'

I agree. I also dislike the term mythology. I prefer the term historical or religious.

and regarding the show, I agree with you. the effects are mind blowing, but what matters is the story telling. maybe the track they left out will come up as flashback? because not many people have seen the original show and/or are aware of that track.

I hope it comes up later, but it's still not well done. The first page of Mahabharat goes waaay before Shantanu. It describes how King Bharat didn't choose any of his own sons as his heir, because none of his sons were worthy to be king. It's important because this is the very thing Dhiritashtra fails on.

But we'll see, perhaps the story telling will get better, but so far I am unimpressed by story telling.

If they're going to spend so much money on putting together Mahabharat, and they have "limited" episodes, I'm sure they could request more episodes to put the story in.

I'll watch because I love Mahabharat, but so far I am unimpressed, and it's a shame that it's only one thing I dislike.
