surprising isnt it? i mean he did give alms n help to his subjects but every king did that..so dont knw why ppl worship duryodhan? there must b some back story? i want to find out...does anyone else knows the positive side of duryodhan apart frm his charity work?

Only just yesterday I read on some website about this incident. Karna and Duryodhana's wife were playing dice and Duryodhana entered. The wife was losing, so when she got up seeing her husband come in, Karna thought she was leaving because she was about to lose the game. So, he caught hold her hand or something and the beads of one of her ornaments broke and fell off. They were both rather upset about it. And Duryodhana on the other hand joked whether he should just pick the beads or put em back together too. So, according to that article, one other good thing about him was his immense love and faith for his wife and his friend, Karna.

correct but the actual city is Kandhahaar..remember in afghanistan where some years back the terrorists had hijacked and landed a passenger plane?? kandhahaar = Gandhaar..

also the red wine of gandhaar was very famous..

No, Gandhara does not refer to the region that's today Kandahar, despite the similarity in name. Gandhara refers to an area starting in Punjab and going into Afghanistan. Takshila - today's Rawalpindi - was one capital of Gandhara (founded by Taksha, son of Rama's brother Bharat) while the other capital - Pushkaravati (founded by his brother Pushkal) was the other capital. That one is somewhere near Jalalabad.

hey thansk for the information...i was under the impression that gandhaar was kandahar because of the name also that gandhaar was famous for the tastely red wine...n i knw that afghanistan was famous for the madira as well..n had read somewhere that physical features and attributes of people of gandhaar was similar to afghani people, the fair complexion, colored/light eyes etc..thats why..
