MUMBAI: Given the immense popularity of the epic - Mahabharat, Star Plus is all set to showcase the great story once again on television. However this time as a film showcased through the lens of one of its greatest characters and perhaps the raison d'etre of Mahabharat - Draupadi. The Maha-movie Draupadi - Ek Agnipariksha' will narrate Draupadi's journey of love, sacrifice and dishonour in a three hour film that will air on May 25th at 1.00 PM and 8.00 PM on Star Plus.

Mahabharat, the iconic tale has no dearth of powerful characters! Be it Krishna who acts as the advisor, the legendary warrior Arjun, the cunning Shakuni, the powerful Yudhisthir and many more. But in a story dominated by males is a strong character of Draupadi that symbolizes beauty and grit, she faces the severest humiliation and yet manages to maintain her dignity. Audiences have loved this facet of Draupadi and empathised with her situation thus making it an apt reason for the film to be presented from her perspective prior to the grand war of Kurukshetra.

Talking about the initiative, Nikhil Madhok, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Programming Strategy, Star Plus said, "Mahabharat has a massive fan-following across all age groups, especially the youth. Draupadi has emerged as one of the most loved and followed characters. Since the series is at the commencement of the great Kurukshetra war, we believed it would be a good refresher to take the viewers through Draupadi's journey and how she was a catalyst for the war. We are positive that the audience will appreciate the film as much as they have enjoyed watching the show. "

Launched in September last year, Mahabharat produced by Swastik Pictures has aired approximately 193 episodes. The show is consistently ranked among the top shows on Indian television and has garnered positive feedback from all quarters.

Watch the film this May 25th, Sunday at 1.00 PM & 8.00 PM only on Star Plus.

Star Plus' mythological show Mahabharat completed 200 episodes!

Star Plus' popular show Mahabharat based on the Indian mythology has completed 200 episodes successfully.

Swastik Productions' popular mythological series Mahabharat onStar Plus celebrated the completion of 200 successfully. The team was highly ecstatic and rejoicing their golden moment.

The show has managed to garner accolades for its performances and the projection of its storyline. So to know about the celebration we got in touch with Shaheer Sheikh who plays the role of Arjun.

Telling us about the same Shaheer says, "I think I am going through the best phase of my life this is best and the amazing shooting. My character of Arjun has taught me a lot. I have got to learn geeta gyaan by doing this show. The show has really opened my eyes and taught me important aspects of my life. Arjun's character has created a great impact on Shaheer and I really feel blessed that I got a chance to play Arjun's character. Basically Arjun is presenting the life of a normal person who seeks help from Lord Krishna. Now I can understand all the lines said by Arjun to Krishna and I can feel that. I always wanted to play the character a warrior prince, but this character is more than what I expected the character which is semi god."

About the celebration, he says, "We celebrated the occasion with a cake cutting ceremony. Basically we all are living in a place to shoot which is far from the city and I feel that we have come more close to the nature. We have not clicked any pictures as we were busy celebrating and we get so engrossed in our work that we don't even bother to click pictures. But we had great fun and we all enjoy shooting."

"Lastly I would say that those who have not read about Mahabharat or is unaware about it then people do watch the show as I got to know so much about the mythology and I want my audience and viewers to also know about it," concludes Shaheer.

TellyBuzz wishes the entire team of Mahabharat heartiest congratulations!

Saurabh Raaj Jain and Veebha Anand share their buddy connect

Tanvi Trivedi,TNN | Jun 3, 2014, 03.51 PM IST

TV actors Saurabh Raaj Jain and Veebha Anand are great friends.

Veebha says,"Since 10 months we are friends.

We bonded well. It's silent mutual admiration for the craft of acting and each other. We both are foodies and mostly we eat together. Whenever he gets something special in his tiffin (say Gulabjamun) he keeps it separate for me if I am not around. Similarly when I go somewhere I make sure I get something for him. I got ladoo from Dwarka especially for him. We talk food, movies and acting all the time."

Veebha tells us how she is never bored in Saurabh's company. She adds, "I hang out with him and his wife too and we go for movie and lunch too. Friendship means a gift to me and Saurabh Raaj Jain is a true friend. He is a very understanding and a good human being. He has great sense of humour and we share jokes too."

Rohit Bhardwaj aka Yudhishtir

Rohit Bhardwaj aka Yudhishtir in Star Plus' Mahabharat has set a fan following one could envy.

He has won millions of hearts across the globe with his stellar performance. Some have even gone gaga over him. Female fans have gone to the extent of claiming on social media that he is hers while a girl from the southern parts of our country sent him an e-collage of him. Another sent him a sketch of his while there most crazy of them all sent him a letter written in blood!

On being asked what has been the response he says, "I am overwhelmed and happy that I am being appreciated as Yudhishtir, finally I feel that people can see Yudhishtir in me, I wanted it all to look real and as convincing as possible and thankfully I am being appreciated and acknowledged but at the same time I don't like my fans doing weird things for me like writing a letter from blood. It's my humble request to all my fans there, please don't hurt yourself ever. "
He has put in a lot of effort behind the curtains. Playing Yudhistir gives him a lot of contentment and personal satisfaction.

Shooting schedule for Mahabharat is extremely tiring: Nissar Khan

Tejashree Bhopatkar,TNN | Jul 13, 2014, 01.17 PM IST

Shooting schedule for Mahabharat is extremely tiring: Nissar Khan
Nissar Khan

Actor Nissar Khan who plays the warrior Drona in Swastik productions' Mahabharat is having a tough time on the set at Umargaun.

Nissar who also plays the investigative officer in popular series Crime Patrol fasts during every Ramzan. "Every year I find myself in a tough situation during Ramzan as I have difficult scenes to shoot. I am shooting in Umargaun now for Mahabharat and I stay in a hotel where I don't get any kind of food early morning when I do Sehri. So every night I keep something in my room and I eat that next morning but then the roti becomes so thick that you hardly can chew that. Post Iftaar in the evening also I don't get the proper food in the hotel as it is not a dinner time."

Nissar also explains,"The shooting schedule for Mahabharat is extremely tiring and toughest one as the Kurukheshtra sequence is going on and I have to hop and jump a lot and then few times I am on harness. And when you jump and fall on the ground you can hurt yourself. During Ramzan you don't drink water and that exhausts you a lot. I am extremely happy to be a part of Swastik because they take care of me so nicely that you don't feel any problem. And when my cast and crew know that I am fasting then they give me extra care."

This Eid Nissar is praying for a peaceful world and prosperity for everyone.
