Let's start with Rudra, he is smart and very shrewd, he thought that maybe involving Shaurya's family will get to the latter and disturb him, when he couldn't take any information from Shaurya's wife, he decided to manipulate the children into giving that press conference with him, he was quite convincing, and could make them believe him he sent the message in a very subtle way and he actually succeeded in distrubing Shaurya who was more annoyed at seeing his children with Rudra than what the children themselves felt. Actually he could feel that Rudra is more like Rk than Rishaan, I think danger bells might have rung, so far he was after Rishaan thinking he might be the Rk but he was highly mistaken.
Yes... Rudra was very shrewd wasn't he? Like he said... he doesn't mind throwing anyone to the wolves... when he is desperate... and he was very desperate to find his brother. And yes... Shaurya definitely saw RK in Rudra... RK always had a knack for press conferences with twisted messages na! 😆 ... kidding... but yeah... he saw the resemblance not just because of his looks... because the way Rudra looked at the screen and he carried himself in that press conference... and now Rudra definitely has his attention.
We could see many shades to Rudra's character : The shrewd manipulative Rudra who can really get his work done, the bitter harsh one who can snap at anyone when it hurts him inside even when he doesn't necessarily mean or believe what he is saying and the heartbroken loving and guilty brother who is agonizing at seeing the state of his wounded brother.
Bang on JJ! I am glad you could see all these shades!!!
Rishaan, what can I say about that man, what have you done to him Maria, I was thinking what a sadist you are while reading about the torture he was undergoing, I mean the man is shattered like literally, physically, emotionnally, I admire he said nothing to Shaurya and didn't give him that pleasure but at the end he was totally broken and it's sad, so sad, one can't help but sympathizing with him more than any other one in the story!
Well JJ... Sorry... I know that might have been a little too much... but it was all necessary. It made me sad too... I do love all these characters... but there are some things I cannot stop from happening.
I liked the fact that Rishaan/Aditya knew his brother was looking for him and doing his best to find him but towards the end when pain reached high limits and memories of the past came rushing to him, he was again heartbroken to remember his brother disowning him! Rudra had better have solid and strong reasons for his reactions! but even if he loves his brother he hurted him a lot no matter what are the reasons, I hope he realizes the extent of the damage soon! his brother's near death experience might help him, I would even say that maybe the way his brother will behave later would make him realize more, I suppose Aditya will be in a big trauma after this!
Yes... it was one memory ... that was deeply etched in his soul... it never left him. So when he was losing it... when he was sinking... that was the memory that played in his mind. there is obviously a lot more to their past... and all that but yes... one can easily say... that incident did fracture their bond... it had a very deep impact. Deeper than Rudra might realize. Sometimes we say things we can't really take back. And yes... Rishaan/Aditya... will be very traumatized... he won't definitely be the same Rishaan we have seen up till now. I can tell you this now. actually this experience will change all the characters in one or another.

About Shaurya, that man is twisted but I get what you tried to convey, he hates Rishaan for looking and trying to behave like Rk but at the same time he sees a twisted person behind that mask though I think he doesn't get the reasons for which Rishaan is being twisted, he thinks Rishaan is like him but he isn't! but still he likes the twisted part of Rishaan and it makes him admire him and even relate to him as you said like surrogate son who he treats in a harsh way, punishing him and then kissing him and attending to his wounds just to punish him again in the worst ways as he doesn't want to admit what Shaurya wants him to admit!! but yaar Shaurya is a monster, how can his love even qualify as love, the amount of inhuman torture and pain, both physically and mentally he made Rishaan/Aditya feel, is immense!!

He is a very twisted man, JJ. Obviously this cannot be love... and what does this man know about love anyway? He was loved by his family... and what did he give them? He doesn't even care about them. He does admire Rishaan... is fascinated by him... but thats a curse in itself for Rishaan. Where Rudra has got Prakash as his father figure... what did Rishaan get... Shaurya? shows how differing the fates of these brothers are. what he sees in Rishaan... is his perception... that may or may not be the case.

I liked the last scene of Rudra and Aditya, almost a lifeless Aditya in the arms of a heartbroken Rudra but I think it will have a continuity in the next chapter right?!, I think we will see more desperation of Rudra, he should utter the right words not only that he is there, he should say it outloud that he loves his brother and that he can't lose him !
Yes the scene is continued in the next chapter. I am glad you liked it. If only Rudra says whatever he feels out loud... or at least coherently in his thoughts... Rudra is messed up.
Questions that you might give answers to in the future:

I suppose the reason, for which Rudra as a child was so harsh on his brother to the point of telling him that he is dead for him, is big and not only an overreaction to something not very serious.
Who was that person who was whipping Aditya when he was still a child?

Yes... I will definitely answer all these in future. And even more questions you did not ask. 😉

I think my favorite character so far has to be Rishaan ! he is definitely not the guy he seems to be! I thought Rudra is twisted and damaged, but I kinda sorta see that Rishaan is no better ! legit DYING to read the next chapter to see what the dude is hiding :D AND I WILL TELL YOU WHAT I THINK ABOUT IT TOO :D 😆

Oh Rudra is plenty twisted and damaged. Trust me. You don't know him yet... this chapter only subtly showed his shades... we will get to see more of his shades upclose in upcoming chapters... But Rishaan is definitely complicated as well. actually these brother are very twisted. 😆

The characters are very similar to the original characters, and yet poles apart ! How do you do that? Brilliant !

Mar, I'd like to let you in on a little secret ! usually when I give a review, I dunno say about a book, or a hotel or a restaurant (YES, My job is so cool I get plenty of free food and I get to go to a lot of nice places! 😆 I usually review on what I think the book, or the hotel should be like ! I dunno if I am making any sense, but yeah ! What I am trying to say is, there was never even a single instant when I felt as if you could have written anything a little different :) Everything is on point!!!! You seriously managed to surprise me! And here I was thinking, wow this is one of the best piece of fiction written on RishBala, but as soon as I came across the chapter in which Rudra and Rishaan came across those bodies in the lake, I realized that this is so much more ! and it is !

Now back to the update...

Rudra finally gets to meet Shaurya's family...he is warned beforehand by the inspector to be careful while dealing with these people as they are also as much victim to Shaurya's nefarious activities, in a passive way...but Rudra is not in a state of mind to make things easy...and it is justified, he is a human afterall...his brother's life, unanswered questions from his past life, Shaurya's lecherous motives towards madhu/maya...all of these could have made any sane mind insane...but he is still in control...
Yes... I do believe it is very very much justified what he has been going through. He a human being. A very ... very flawed human being. He is no saint.
About Sonia, Sania and Sanjay I really feel pity for them...their father must have been an idol, a guide in their lives but to digest such appalling evidences on the face would have been worse than a nightmare for any kid...About Shalini, I guess she is having some huge turmoil in her mind...she knows Shaurya for 22 years as wife...even if not his ill deeds to the utmost details, she must have known about his delinquent disposition from her experience...so like Rudra, I cannot believe she had absolutely no inkling about Shaurya's 'other self'...but like a dutiful wife and mother she is trying her best to be protective...and in a way that is justified as well...even if Shaurya is convicted, the kids should be protected from the public eyes and hatred...it is not their fault to be born as Shaurya's kids...
Even I feel bad for the kids. I mean.. as I said in my reply to I guess.. Hiyu... how does one get over such a betrayal and such a tarnished image? I mean, they are ruined for life. Also, they can be later on... victims of many hate crimes you know... it's very possible. About his wife, well, as Shaurya said, she trusted him blindly. Shaurya has been living a double life for ages now. He killed RishBala when he was just a teenager. He is a very twisted person. I believe he chose Shalini as a life partner because he knew how much she loved him and trusted him blindly. I mean I am just saying. Don't worry I am not going to explore their marriage.. 😆 ... I have enough supporting characters. But ... I do believe that there are women who can love and trust blindly. And that there are monsters who hide behind masks and fail to even raise a doubt in the minds of the people they live with... in a family or community. I have read of several such cases.
On the other hand Shaurya continues with his inhuman torture on Reeshan...what does he want him to confess? What mask does he intend to pull off from Reeshan's face?...well I am sure you would not let us know that so soon and keep on boggling our minds with the mystery...
Yes.. you got that right. 😆 All will be revealed but all in good time.. 😆 ... Well, Rishaan does wear a mask. However, from Shaurya's perspective... what he hides beneath it... is a monster just as twisted as he is. But that's just his perspective. He is a nutcase. 😆 So, decide for yourself.😆
On being refused totally by Shalini in providing any sorts of assistance, Rudra completely loses his cool...and the devil's advocate kicks back in his mind... 😈 ...he realised Sonia's soft spot for him because of his resemblances to RK...and he cleverly uses that to his advantage...in fact he manges to get the other two kids also in confidence...I simply love this badass side of him 😆 the public announcement is made Shaurya's family and Rudra succeeds in hitting the nail at the right place...
Honestly, I loved it too. But it's a little tricky, isn't it? Here lies one of the many grey shades of his character... that will be explored later. 😉
Shaurya is taken aback by the public announcement...I am sure he does not care much about his family being paraded in front of the world to get to him, but he is baffled more by Rudra...it is really a big surprise/shock for him to realise that all his time he has been hunting for the wrong RK...his arch nemesis whom he had slain years before has risen from the ashes 😈
Haha true! 😆 ... Shaurya really did not expect that. He doesn't care about his family but seeing them close to Rudra... who was channeling RK... it was something very unexpected for him. He did not like it one bit. Rudra has got his attention now.
Rudra gets to the core of the hidden evidences with the help of little Sonia and sets on his mission, his last resort to find his brother...alive

Shaurya realises his time is over, his intention has not been fully realised, but being the devil as he is, he unleashes the last strike on Reeshan...or is it Aditya? Aren't we already in a big maze running after clues and getting at dead ends to find what you are plotting with this story Maria?? ...that you had to introduce another deep dark (I am imagining it to be) secret? I do not know if he succumbed to his excruciating pain at the end in his brother's arms
😆 ... Yes he is Aditya... and you will know about his fate in the next chapter that I am yet to finish writing. 😆
Well I will not think about it more right now, and wait for your next update...

Buttt...I have one outrageous opinion at the end of the chapter...

I may be completely crazy to think that, but it is all your fault, you have made my mind go haywire with your superb and outstanding plot 😆 ... this story is always in layers...one that is apparent is not true always, there are always some hidden truths that peek to the surface time to time... Shaurya has been an evil character, that was apparent all along...but is there some evilness in Rudra, hidden in his distant past (not the past life, but this life itself) that keeps him repenting about his brother? Are his words "...and what you don't get is that I may not be a demon like your husband... but I am most definitely no angel either." hinting to this evilness that in some way led to his brother's tormented past? 😲
I won't say no. But I will say this... I always said that Rudra is not RK. There are similarities yes... but he is different. There is a lot more to him. If you see his entire journey ... whatever I have shown you of him.. especially in this chapter... you will know that something is definitely not right. Also... I will point out... though he has so many monologues throughout the run of the story... I can say ... Rudra may not be the most reliable character. 😛😆 His monologues are his perspective... not necessarily the truth. 😉
You know, with your writing I feel like being immensely adventurous myself about the characters...no one can be all white or black...shades of grey with some hidden darker shades are always such enjoyable mind teasers... 😳
Correct. They are all grey! Even Bittuji is grey! 😆 All these characters are very flawed and grey... And I am glad you are enjoying reading these characters. I am having fun writing them too.
Anyway...enough of my bigtime bakwaas...but this is the first time I am grateful that you did not update the next chapter before I could comment 😆 😉
