i want to dedicate this OS to all my readers because their encouragement through positive feedback inspired me to write more stories. Thank you all. I hope you all enjoy it 😳
And just to let you guys know, the app I use to write my stories makes them seem long to me because I am using it on a small screen. This makes my stories look shorter when I upload it to IF than on the app ...just thought I let you guys know. I'm sorry if they are too short.
Enough of my bakbak...and time for story
Rishbala OS- The Ferris Wheel
"Madhu! Slow down beta." A woman yelled out.
A little girl was running towards the giant Ferris wheel at the fair, wearing a light green dress and matching flats. She loved to come to the fair, especially the giant Ferris wheel that towered over everything else. Her mother, Padmini, ran after her.
"Mama, I want to get to the ride before anyone else." Madhu continued to run.
Madhu finally reached the ride, hoping that her favorite seat was still open. She had marked it with her name in sloppy handwriting.
"Yay! No one sat here yet!" She clapped with joy.
She didn't like to share her seat with anyone, except her friends. But she always came alone to the fair. Anyone who tried to sit there would be kicked out by her. Her mother watched her little princess from the bottom, waving. Madhu got comfortable in the seat when suddenly a boy came and sat down next to her.
"Hey, what are you doing? This is my seat only!"
"I can sit here if I want to." He stuck his tongue out at her.
"No! Get off!"
"I won't! And you can't do anything about it." He said.
Madhu tried to protest but in vain. The ride had already started. She tried to ignore the boy, but she couldn't. The boy looked at her curiously.
"Why do you like to ride alone?"
"Because I want to. None of my friends come with me...so I go alone on all the rides. And I don't talk to strangers."
"Will you be my friend?" He asked politely.
"But I don't know you. Mama said never talk to strangers."
"But if I be your friend...then I won't be a stranger."
She sat there, thinking. He was right.
"Fine, on one condition."
"What?"
"Give me some of that cotton candy." She pointed to the treat in his hand.
"Deal." He took a piece and gave it to her. They sat in an awkward silence for a moment.
"What's your name?"
"Madhubala."
"That's a long name. Can I call you Madhu?"
"Fine. What's your name?" She said.
"Rishabh."
They both smiled at each other. They talked for the entire ride, sometimes admiring the scenery or telling each other jokes.
"Will you be here tomorrow?" She asked him when the ride ended.
"I always come for the fair. Every year."
"Me too."
"Yay...then we can ride the Ferris wheel all the time." He said, excitedly.
"See you tomorrow, Madhu."
"Bye Rishabh." She waved him goodbye.
Padmini came and took her daughter's hand.
"Who were you taking to beta?"
"A new friend." She said. "Can we come back tomorrow?"
"Of course beta." She stroked Madhu's hair.
Her face glowed with excitement. She liked her new friend.
Madhu came to the fair everyday after meeting Rishabh. They both met at the Ferris wheel as soon as they could. Madhu even added his name to the seat where they always sat. They slowly grew up, but never stopped coming to the fair every year. They grew closer each passing day. From friendship to eventually, love.
(Last day of the fair...15 years later)
Madhu stood in front of the Ferris wheel. It was still her favorite ride after all these years. It was where she met Rishabh, the love of her life. She looked at her watch.
"Rishabh, where are you?" She didn't want to miss the last ride of the night.
She paced around the area in front of the Ferris wheel.
"If Rishabh doesn't show up, I will never talk to him." She said to herself, sulking.
Her fears had come true. The Ferris wheel began to move for the last time this year. Tears began to fill her eyes. This was the first time in years where she hasn't been on the ride. She began to turn, until a voice boomed from the ride.
"Madhu, wait!" She looked up, where the voice came from.
To her surprise, it was Rishabh, standing on the seat with a megaphone. A smile appeared in her face.
"Madhu, I think it's time to tell you what I wanted to say for the last couple months." He said.
Then one by one, the people on the other seat held up small board with letters and words on them. It read...
"Madhu, will you marry me?" He said as she read the boards.
Everyone in the fair gathered to see what her answer was. Someone handed her a megaphone as well. She hesitated, but finally came to a conclusion.
"Yes! I will!" She said as loud as she could. Everyone began to clap.
The wheel began to move again, bringing Rishabh down to the ground. He took out a ring from his back pocket and slid it onto Madhu's finger. She hugged him tightly.
"You've made me the happiest girl in the world today!!"
"And you've made me the happiest guy in the world today!" He said.
Rishabh picked up Madhu into his arms and carried her to their seat on the Ferris wheel. He placed her down, now holding her hand. He sat down next to her.
"If I never had sat next to you that day...then I would have lost something very precious in my life." He kissed her forehead.
Madhu took out a pen from her bag, and drew a heart around their names.
"Now this moment is complete." She said.
"Nope...not yet." He said.
He pulled out a small bag of cotton candy from behind him. He took a piece and popped it into her mouth.
"Now it is." They both laughed.
They held onto each other, gazing at the stars. The Ferris wheel had lit up with glistening lights of many different colors. Rishabh turned Madhu towards him, and bent down to her lips. He gave her a long lingering kiss, under the moonlight and shining stars.
"I love you, Madhu." He whispered.
"I love you too, Rishabh." She said.
And they lived happily ever after...still coming to the fair every year to ride the Ferris wheel that brought them together.
