Chapter 2
(Madhu's POV)
I found Rishabh tending to his horse. My grasp on the rose tightened. He was topless, showing off his perfectly chiseled body. I blushed. I never seem him like this before. Then again, there were a lot of things I haven't seen before.
I advanced towards him, but I wasn't watching where I was going and I tripped on an abandoned piece of wood. But I didn't fall to the ground. I found myself in his arms, both if us lying on the hay stack. We both were knocked down in the incident.
"Are you okay, my princess?" He asked.
"Yes I'm fine." I tried to pick myself up, but I couldn't. My shoes didn't have much grip. Rishabh finally helped me up. I fixed my appearance. Hay was caught in my hair.
"Let me help you, princess." He said, taking each piece of hay out of my hair. His eyes were still on mine.
"I got this for you." I said, handing him the rose. Thankfully, nothing happened to it. It was still as beautiful as I brought it.
"Thank you." He said, smiling.
We stood there awkwardly, laughing at what just happened. Why was talking to him so hard? This isn't what you planned Madhu. Rishabh finally broke the silence.
"Would you like to come for a horseback ride with me, princess?"
My face lit up. A horseback ride with my knight. A dream come true. I nodded.
"Yes, I would love to." He smiled at my consent.
He took his horse out of the stable and hot up onto it. He came over to me and offered his hand. I grabbed it and he pulled me up onto the horse.
"Hold me tight, princess. I don't want you to fall."
I did as he told. I wrapped my arms around him, as hard as I could. He took me towards the riverside. We became more comfortable with each other.
"What is your life like in the palace, princess?" He asked, curious.
"Boring...being formal all the time. I want to be free." I said. "Don't call me princess, call me Madhu. And that's an order."
"Okay princ...I mean Madhu." I giggled.
"Don't worry. You'll get used to it."
We continued on the path. The slight breeze felt nice. I let myself go free with the wind. I never felt so free before. We went close to the nearby kingdom and back to the palace. He helped me off the horse.
"It's getting late. You should go back inside." He said.
"Rishabh..." I called. This was the first time I called him by name.
He turned around at the sound of his name.
"Yes Madhu?"
"Thank you for today. I actually felt like a normal person, not a princess staying in the confines of her palace."
"You're welcome, Madhu." He said.
Rishabh escorted me back to the palace gates and waved goodbye. Then he went to his own quarters. I stood at the door, watching him until he disappeared into the night.
