CHAPTER:3 Alliance for Madhu
New morning, but for the first time Madhu felt there was something different going to happen this day. I normally get intuitions when something bad is gonna happen but this feeling cant indicate anything bad, she spoke to herself. Madhu was out of her bed and at the kitchen to help her mom right on time as always. You mind if I go out for lunch with my friends, we wanna celebrating our first concerts success, she told her mom. "Success???" said her mom in a shock which embarrassed madhu at once and the next sec. the mother-daughter burst out laughing, at least our tickets were sold, said madhu.
That afternoon when Madhu was about to leave for lunch her mom asked her to be back by 3 p.m. saying there'll be a surprise waiting for her at home. All afternoon even when Madhu was with her friends she kept thinking of what the surprise could be and if that was the reason why she felt something different from morning. She couldn't wait any longer for her surprise and left her success party as soon as possible and reached home by 2 p.m.
You are back I thought you won't come before 3, said her mom.'Where's the surprise?' Her mom handed her a new sari, to her surprise she had also stitched the blouse for it. 'Go try it.' But new dress without any occasion? she asked. It's for your success, replied her mom with a smile which Madhu felt did not suit the situation. She quickly went and changed. The red sari made her look more gorgeous than ever. The next one hour was filled with surprises for her as her mother handed her new earrings, bangles, anklets, make up set, etc. and she like any other girl happily tried all of them.
Madhu looked like a dall, if a little more accessory was added she would look like the bride of a perfect Indian wedding. Sharp at three-fifteen the doorbell rang. Madhus mom ran to open the door asking her not to come out of the room as she was all dressed and also asked her not to remove anything as she wanted to take a picture with her. Madhu obeyed. Waiting in her room Madhu could hear her parents greeting some people as if they were very special to them, as if they were some celebrity. Madhu badly wanted to see who had come but her room was in a place next to the kitchen and people in the hall could not see her room or the kitchen and vice versa.
After sometime Madhu's mom entered her room and handed her a tray with 5 cups of tea and said in a rush the guy and his parents are here to see you quickly go serve them this tea, I told them you made this, and she pulled her out of the room. Everything was happening so fast that Madhu didn't even get the time to be shocked. But as she reached the hall she was reminded of what Dolly had told her. She thought to herself, is it really RK? No more time to think as she was in front of them.
Madhu was scared to even look up so she looked only at everyone's legs as she served them tea. Then she was made to sit in front of the guy. Her parents were sitting on another couch to her left and the guys parents on one to her right. Now was the time as she was right in front of him she started seeing from down. And said to herself 'black shoes - wow', 'black pant - wow', 'white shirt - wow', 'black suit - wow', 'so muscular - wow', 'pink lips -wow', 'blue eyes- wow'...'blue eyes????' she quickly looked up and saw him as a whole, it was the guy whose photo her mom had given her. And immediately her look changed. So long though shocked she look very interested in the guy but now she looked irritated.
The guy was also looking down when Madhu's mom asked her to show him her room. She almost gave her mother a stare and led him to her room. In the room Madhu stared at the guy with an awkward look, the guy felt uncomfortable so he started to talk to change the situation. So what are your interests other than music, Madhu?' he said. She was surprised to know that he knew so much about her. What's your name?' she replied for his question. You don't know my name??? he asked and it looked like it was the most shocking thing that has happened in his life. I'm Armaan Malik' he said in a soft polite voice, his eyes still looking down. It was written behind the photo, didn't you see?'. Madhu was disappointed due to some reason and couldn't explain herself why, yet she tried to be polite in answering his questions knowing that he might be her future husband, Yes, but I forgot. I didn't know you were coming.' Armaan looked at her and found it difficult to believe that that she didn't know he was coming. So what do you do?' she asked, Madhus mom bounced in and said don't you know he the most famous cardiologist in Mumbai'. Madhu was angry at her mom and replied, no, why should I, I don't have heart problem you see.' Arman smiled (any girl would give her heart away for that smile, so charming, but Madhu seemed to be lost in someone else's thoughts).
Everyone gathered at the hall where Madhus parents said that they like Armaan and Armaan's parents said that they can't wait to make Madhu their daughter-in-law. Everyone looked at Madhu and Armaan and asked them if they like each other. Madhu was shocked to see everything happening so fast and looked at Armaan. She didn't want Armaan to say yes' as she felt she had no reason to not marry him as Armaan was too perfect to for a no'. Madhu looked at him, it looked like he was dying to get married to her but he said in his soft polite voice We don't know each other yet.' He looked at Madhu and said Would you like to spend some time with me... so we'll know each other better... before you decide if you want to marry me or not.' She softly replied Ye..' Her mom bounced in and said Sure, why not? You can take her to any public place you want.' "I'll be going to a party tomorrow evening, would it be a problem if I take her along? Media is also invited in the party, she'll be safe." he asked. Everyone looked at Madhu's dad and he smiled and said "Only if you promise to bring her back home safely by 8 p.m." Armaan smiled and nodded. Armaan's family left. Madhu felt like a tsunami had just passed over her head. Madhu's dad immediately left to open his Clothes shop that he had closed for lunch and still not opened. Madhu ran behind her mom who was running all around the house to escape Madhus anger. The doorbell rang and Madhu's mom look the chance to escaped from madhus anger. She said that she's got work and ran into the kitchen, asking her to open the door. Madhu opened the door and stood like a statue, her eyes wide open and her lips murmured "Rrr...Kkk...???"
