In [North India], it is customary for mothers to lightly spit at their children (usually to the side of the children rather than directly at them) to imply a sense of disparagement and imperfection that protects them from evil eye (or nazar).

The person in the AT was explaining what happened to her child when a woman was leaving she spat on the child's hand, to ward off the evil eye. Going by that link I've given above, it happens in North India. Perhaps you guys haven't heard about it, it doesn't matter, but that's how it was said in the AT. But why are you guys making fun of other's views here, if you don't agree with a person's viewpoint just argue where it was first written why open another post, collate every single view in the Sultan's camp and laugh at it and ridicule. If you don't agree when it's posted on the forum go there and say I don't think so.
I didn't like Madhu spitting on Sultan's hand she could have said all the dialogues without the spitting, I think she was trying to tell him just with that action that she would not accept him. But the CV's did make her say the dialogues as well, so the spit wasn't required and hurt Sultan but you guys were happy as you don't like Sultan.
