I hardly write on this forum but recent twist has made me come out of hibernation.
I just want to bring forward my POV on Madhu's and Rishbala's characterization and their reactions.
I feel that this track is a still very much about Rishbala. Maybe due to their personal commitments they are getting less screen space but this track is still about growth in their relationship.
They are newly wedded couple with a very bitter past. One whole year they spent in fighting, falling in love, breaking each other's hearts, two revenges and post that acceptance of their love. Communication has never been their forte and they very much belong to two very different worlds bringing a big gap in their understanding of each other.
Madhu is from a lower middle class family with a very simplistic view of life. This simplicity is a weapon and a curse as well. All three – RK, Radhaji and Madhu think that MK is innocent but reasons are very different.
RK is convinced because he thinks Sultan is now on revenge path to get Madhu back. Hence he is irritated, impatient and angry.
Radhaji is convinced because for any wife it is very hard to accept that her knowledge and life with her husband of so many years a farce. Her reaction is like Madhu's when she could not believe for a moment that RK was lying to her after first prem game. They had been married for months while Radhaji has lived a lifetime with MK
In all this Madhu has the least emotional bond but is convinced that MK is not at fault. In her simplistic world, it is a big misunderstanding in Sultan's mind and she thinks he is misguided. That is why she is hung up on finding the truth and clear up the mess.
One more thing which struck me was when she was applying medicine to RK's wound after studio night. She seemed shaken up and was worried about RK. Maybe this appeal for peace and sorting things calmly also arise from that fact. Also, she has never had any romantic inkling towards Bhai and one again a simplistic view she thinks neither does he have had any feelings for her and RK is just his usual self possessive and jealous.
Now coming to my original statement. RK used Madhu for greater good. As a husband he had right to do it. Point to be noted that Madhu did not fight with him immediately or in public. But as a wife she also has equal right to ask if he doesn't trust her. Why did he not tell her the truth and used her by lying with omission. It may be a small thing now but there is a communication and understanding gap between them. Both are right. RK can use his wife and his wife should know even if her husband is going to use her as part of a plan for their family's benefit. But do they trust each other enough to be frank? Do they understand each other enough to communicate?
Even today's conversation was in similar vein. She was telling him facts about Radha. Meera is a mad woman and so there is no point in badmouthing her. If she has been allowed to roam freely in KM then she will come face to face with Radhaji. But both did not understand each other. RK did not understand that Madhu is a simpe girl just narrating a day's happening to her husband and Madhu did not understand that every time she takes Sulatan's name or Meera's name or tries to calm down RK, it pains him. It pains him to see his mother's and father's name being maligned and talked about in this fashion.
Tomorrow when they will patch up, it will be first step towards growing in their relationship as husband wife. First time they will try to understand and connect with each other. Trust each other and share their thoughts with each other. I am very hopeful that by end of this track, Madhu and RK will be husband wife in thoughts too and will take a very big step forward in their relationship.
Is Sultan actually RK's brother is up to speculation. Frankly speaking I don't think so. Even today when Meera started talking about her husband's name, Sultan stopped her. Madhu wanted to know but Meera never said that MK was her husband. I went through all WU and videos and nowhere she said MK was her husband. Alls he said was that he took her son. She hates him because he took her son. That makes me think that there is a bigger twist which will make Sultan exit the sow with a sorry face and make Rishbala emerge stronger.
