Chapter 74
Bittuji was ready with all the requested equipment outside the Bhatia Residence at the appointed time. Yes, working with Rishab Kundra meant adopting the motto of the Girl Guides – Be Prepared. Time, date, place, nothing mattered, the only thing that mattered was that the work be done and done at the requested time. And for the troubles people had to endure, the compensation was well worth it. Rishab was a hard task-master but an even better pay-master. He was a workaholic and expected you to be one too, but he was no slave-driver.
When Bittuji saw the look in Rishab's face, he knew something was going down, something big and that something was Mr. Bhatia. Bittuji already pitied him, but he had this coming... May God rest his soul...Deep down he kinda wished he were there for the final showdown. But looking over all the materials while handing them over to Rishab, he basically knew where this was leading.
Before he rang, Rishab checked if he had all the relevant materials to bring down the evil forces. Satisfied with Bittuji's efficiency, he rang.

Through small sobs Adam softly cried, "Perfection at its best," as he and Abby looked Madhu over. She looked glorious in the sheer black dress cut perfectly to complement her slightly voluptuous figure, revealing just the right amount of skin needed when one has a lot of apologising to do. "And didn't I tell you Michael Kors Delphine Suede Bow Pumps in Hot Pink & Gold should be considered a staple item?"
"Adam... you have outdone yourself. She looks...divine!!!" Abby said thumping Adam on the back. "Are you sure it is not just a tad too much? I mean it is sheer." Madhu asked a little doubtful. "It is sheer for a reason. And you will thank us later, when you will not have to say much as the dress will do most of the apologising. " Abby reasoned with her. "That is.. if there will be any talking involved. And don't worry about having the dress ripped." Adam leaned into Madhu teasingly, rendering her cheeks coloured.

"Rishab... Wha..What are you doing here at this hour?" Mr. Bhatia said rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He was surprised when he was pulled out of bed at midnight by one of his servants informing him that Rishab was at the door.
"Mr. Bhatia... Ah.. I seem to have woken you. Well well well... Mr. Bhatia... it is high time you wake up." Rishab said as he calmly placed his bag on the coffee table and took a seat. "I think you should sit down for this..." Watching him hesitate he added, "Just a piece of good advice." Pointing to the seat in front of him.
Mr. Bhatia gulped as he watched Rishab's movements. Rishab was usually this calm and curt when he had something up his sleeve. And if that was the situation, it spelled disaster for him. He slowly walked to the seat Rishab had pointed to earlier and planted himself there, sweat forming on his brow.
Watching Mr. Bhatia sweat, Rishab smirked. He moved forward and grabbed the Air-conditioning controls off the table and lowered the temperature. "Hope that will help with the heat..," he said.
"Mr. Bhatia..." he started, nodding his head in a show of pity. "Tsk Tsk... You shouldn't have done what you did." "But what did I.." Mr. Bhatia started. "Shhhssshhh..." Rishab stopped him mid-sentence. "You have done and said what you had to so far. Now you listen and I talk."
"I have been onto you from the beginning. From the moment envy followed by greed took root in you. You were a good business man, but I was better. You never did like having to take orders from someone less than half your age, did you? You tried different techniques to make me look bad before the board, but never did succeed. I thwarted your every plan. I put you in charge of branding, something you know nothing about, just to keep you out of my daily business activities. By the time you figured out the ins and outs of branding, I passed resolutions to the effect that every decision, big or small, you make and sign on would have to be co-signed by me or else it is null and void. But as long as it stayed business it was fine. But then it started getting personal. You knew I was never interested in your daughter, yet you encouraged her feelings towards me. You fanned it till it became an obsession. You used your own daughter to fan your own obsessive need for power and control. But it still remained your family matter." Rishab paused and bent forward in his seat. "Then you took it further. You involved Madhu in your fight for power and control. That is when you went too far. You shouldn't have done that and i say this for your own benefit. You shouldn't have. With Madhu you over-stepped your boundaries."
"What did.." Mr. Bhatia interrupted trying to save his ass from getting skinned. Rishab just had to raise his eyebrow to have him shut-up again.
"In business there is a saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. But when the fight goes from professional to personal, you goto cut off the enemies from their roots." Rishab said. He opened his bag and took out the papers in front of him and stood walking towards Mr. Bhatia. He placed two sets of papers in front of him.
"The papers to your right are your resignation papers, where you tell the board that you are resigning and writing off your part of the shares to employees of the company. And that you are thinking of retiring and living the rest of the days working with the impoverished children in Africa. After which you will have no connection either professional nor personal with the Kundra Construction. This will be the easy way out..."
Mr. Bhatia looked up at Rishab. Rishab smiled, "The big load of papers to your left, those are proofs of all the ill dealings that you have somehow managed to pull even under tight scrutiny. Oh and don't worry, those are just photo-copies. These will be presented to the board first, where you will be voted out and lose your standing in the business world. After that, the proofs will land in the hands of Income-Tax officers and Police after which you will lose whatever else is left."
Rishab handed Mr. Bhatia a pen. "Take your pick. I didn't want to give you an easy way out. But it wouldn't be just you who would be affected. It would be your children too. And though they can be prissy and overall annoying, still I don't wish them bad."
Mr. Bhatia's mouth went dry and he was shaking as he looked at the two sets of papers. He knew all this time!! How did he know? How did he collect so much proof? I thought I was pretty careful. As he moved forward to sign the papers on the right, Rishab added, "Oh and when you say that you are living the rest of the days working with the impoverished children in Africa, you will be. And if I find that you aren't, the proofs will land in the hands of the people they were intended to land in in the first place. And don't worry I will help any way possible with the extradition process if necessary."
Mr. Bhatia signed the papers and all related documents with shaky fingers. "Good choice Mr. Bhatia. My work here is done. I want you out of my life and on the plane to Africa at the earliest. Will give you 10 days to get your affairs in order. Remember 10 days. One extra minute and the papers will be on the relevant officers desk."
Rishab gathered all the papers required and walked towards the door. "Good Night Mr. Bhatia. Though I doubt sleep will visit you any time soon."
As soon as Rishab left, Mr. Bhatia grabbed the crystal vase on the side table close to him and threw it at the door through which Rishab left in anger. "You haven't won. Not yet!!" He yelled in anger. He picked up his phone and dialled a number. He took everything from me. I will take everything from him. "It is time." He announced calmly to the person on the other end of the line, still festering in anger.
What no one was aware of was that someone had heard the entire conversation between Mr. Bhatia and Rishab Kundra, and that someone didn't like where this was heading...
*******
"Daddy..." Madhu called out tentatively as she walked out into the living room where her father and Maya were sitting. Mr. Malik stood and gazed at her with awe, tearing up a little like that of a father looking at his daughter all dressed up and ready for prom.
"Madhu you look soo..." Mr. Malik choked up. He swallowed before he asked Madhu what he needed to as her father, who was happy to see his daughter happy but sad at the same time knowing that his daughter would leave him one day to start a life of her own with the one she loves and that the day would not be that far off. "Madhu... are you sure about Rishab?"
Madhu nodded. "Daddy.. I love him... I love him very much. And he loves me more. If he didn't he would have been selfish and stopped the engagement. I had told him that your happiness meant more to me than anything and he upheld his part in it. But I was wrong and I have to tell him that and ask forgiveness, forgiveness for breaking his heart. I have to go to him. And I have to go to him now."
Mr. Malik nodded. Maya who was listening to the whole conversation was in tears and before Mr. Malik could say anything, she cried out, "Go already!!", almost pushing her out of the door.
Mr. Malik swung his arm around Maya trying to calm her down. Adam and Abby stood beside them in a similar position only with Abby trying to calm Adam down. Adam blew on his nose commenting, "Our baby girl is all grown up now!!", turning an emotional moment into a funny one unintentionally.
