Chapter Five - The Wedding

"I have a surprise for you Madhu."

"Surprise?"

"Yup, close your eyes."

I closed my eyes slowly, waiting for him to speak. I felt him take a grab of my hand gently. Then a cool feeling on one of my fingers.

"Open."

I opened my eyes and found myself staring at a huge diamond ring.

"I'm going to marry you with saat-phere Tonight."

I remained silent as I was shocked. He shook me gently.

"Madhu?"

"Wait. I'm trying to process what you just said."

"I'm going to marry you?"

"Tonight?!"

He let out a low laugh which confirmed what I thought he said. I smiled and wrapped my arms around him.

"I love you! I love you so much RK!"

"I love you more."

"Nope. I love you more. My love plus our baby's love equals more love than yours!"

"What?"

I pulled away and smiled. I took a hold of his hand and placed it on my stomach. This was the perfect time to tell him.

"I'm pregnant RK."

"You're kidding."

"Nope, I was waiting for the right time to tell you!"

"You just gave me the happiest news of my life."

He pulled me in for a hug.

"Today's going to be the best day of my life Madhu. I'm so glad I have you in my life."

I smiled and continued to hug him gently.

"Go get ready, I've already told our driver where to take you. I'll see you at the altar in two hours. Love you."

He kissed my forehead and slowly walked away.

I walked towards the altar in my wedding lengha. I saw the priest there and all the preparations were ready but he wasn't there. I walked towards the priest.

"Is RK here yet?"

"No beti, he hasn't come yet."

I became nervous. He had left an hour before I did. I took a seat where I was supposed to and waited.

I waited for hours. He never showed up.
