Coming to Sultan's character, I was expecting so much. His entry made me feel that "Yes, finally we'll get a new angle to the story" , but after a month now, it seems like Sultan's character is as close to what Trishna's is in the show. Pointless. Yes it is becoming pointless because he is being shown as just "another guy" which isn't even the case. And me being a fan of his character am really disappointed with the way CVs are wasting his character. A character that had SO much potential. And him being a Gangster was not even as issue. Because the character of Gangsters has been liked very much by audiences previously too. The issue was that his character turned out to be strong competition for RK. But I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. I mean, having two strong male leads is a good thing right? And I really wanted to see Sultan's character being explored as a parallel track. But the CVs came back to square one with RK and Madhu's monotonous interactions. I am sorry but I still find their story to be utterly monotonous. Same track, same dialogues, the only slightly different thing is that Madhubala is clever and cautious than before now. And between all this, the CVs seem to have forgotten Sultan's character completely. There is so much that could be and needs to be explored about him. For example his past story with his wife that was apparently supposed to be shown, how he became what he is, and the "acha wala bura" in him, but they never did. All that is happening in the show is RK-Madhu one week, Sultan-Madhu next week, then RK-Madhu the week after that again. Everything seems to be so sudden in the entire show. I can't even enjoy Sultan anymore now. And frankly, Avinesh is being wasted in this show big time. Because his character is not one that should be sidelined. And that is exactly what is happening. If all they wanted to show was RK-Madhu going back to square one, why waste Sultan's character amidst all of this? And it's not just Sultan, the CVs have introduced so many good characters but they leave their tracks hanging mid-way abruptly. Even Shamsher Malik was an amazing character but there is no sign of him left in the show. A show is not just made of a male protagonist and a female protagonist. It's made of the entire cast of characters. Because it's the other characters that save the show from becoming boring and repetitive. And introducing Sultan as the parallel lead would have done wonders to the show had the CVs handled it well. They introduce characters, and then forget them.
I don't mind seeing Madhu and Sultan as a couple. Infact I am all for it. But I don't want to see Madhu running from one guy to another, then back to the first one again. This is not in her character. If they want to show her "just teaching RK a lesson" and then moving on, then I am all for some SulBala. But if they show her to be confused between choosing RK and Sultan, then that would be the dumbest thing ever. I want her to be with Sultan ONLY and IF ONLY she is completely over RK. Which isn't that impossible a thing. Because there is a difference between first love and true love. Yes first loves are special, very special, but they don't necessarily have to be your true love. I don't want Sultan to be her rebound guy. If she ends up choosing him, I want it to be because she thinks he is "the guy" . And if they want to show RishBala, then I don't mind it either as long as they show it with dignity and sense. People are okay with the way their track is moving, and it's completely their choice to which I don't object, but what worries me is that the way they are showing their relationship is infact the "idea of love" that most people have here. And believe it or not, this is exactly what "influence" is called. We can yell all we want that it's a fiction show but these things do get to you at some point. I mean, there's a reason we get so emotionally attached to mere characters that we are ready to jump each others bones if anything is said against our favorites.
Sorry for the long rant. But I am just disappointed and confused with the way the show is going. The track is still monotonous and I give it another month and a half before the TRPs start decreasing rapidly. Because when a thing is in excess, it tends to get boring. RK and Madhu will fight right now, then patch up, then romance a bit, and then what? There would be nothing left to show. The best way to cope with the revenge track would have been to introduce the heroine track. Showing Madhubala getting more famous than RK in the industry and RK breaking seeing that. Then introducing the Sultan track to add extra spice. Everything would have made so much more sense then!
I am not talking as a fan of any particular actor or character here, I am talking as a fan of Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon. A show I thought was different and promising.
