Indian TV is one of the most effed up disgusting regressive medium of entertainment. No shockers there. Not only does it encourage physical abuse and mental torture but it passes it off as romance and 'deep' 'dark' love and rainbows and unicorns.
The amount of young impressionable minds that justify this obsessive love, mellow female character and a gangster is actually quite alarming.
Before you say I don't understand their complex characterizations, please spare me. There is nothing deep or complex about any of them. It shows the regressive mentality of writers who are flippant with matters of the sensitive kind.
Physical abuse is an endless cycle. It's staggering how so many well read, intelligent, smart women of this forum are so easily swayed by lack lustre writing masked with fancy dialogues hiding the real ugly traits of the story. What's even more sad is people are not able to identify physical abuse.
This is a cause for great concern.
I do like and have enjoyed reading the Wuthering Heights type of deep dark love stories. But to label physical abuse as love and compare it to these classics is extremely disturbing. They are not the same.
What the Creatives are doing is making beautiful actors and actresses play ugly characters. And someday I hope this stops.
Regressive story telling, as it turns out, is as endless as physical abuse. Ah the irony of it all.
Obviously my one post won't change the opinions of this forum nor that of the creatives. But maybe somewhere somehow a member of Broadcasting Council may read it.
Here's hoping we'll have better TV shows in the future.
