The unwedding drama happened because RK realized that he can't be related to Madhu, as he's afraid of relatonship !!

He realized he was weak because he was in love and wanted Madhu to stay far from him ! That's why he did all that Drama ! (I'm not saying what he did right !)

For me the revenge excuse isn't valid !
