Lovely take 👏, I am glad to read some thing which is not biased at all . I was actually fed up of taunting just in name of their take . I would say this is what i feel is the best take i have read after many months .

I feel the same about the story only couldn't write in this beautiful way . I would like to add one thing about story development of Madhu's character . I think this story is about Journey of Madhubala . So the character will develop slowly & steadily . Also if we want the serial to run for longer time then we all need to have patience with the characters 😛 .

That is one insightful post and have to agree with it! Even I feel that the track is fine and the CVS are doing an overall fab work! Its a daily soap after all, so there will be not up to mark scenes and characterization once in a while! I love the show enough to bear with it with pleasure!

In past few days ever since Shamini track started, there seems to be mass dissatisfaction with the show much to my surprise because I am loving the track. I wanted to share my perspective on the show and common complaints.

Why so much focus on Shamini and their marriage? Why do we have to give their relationship a name?

In big picture ...the focus on marriage serves many purposes...

1) RK is not against remarriage...hence his anger with Radha is not because he feels that she insulted his father's memory or that she remarried but more so with her choice for husband. He knows that Kuku is not a good husband and does not truly love Radha and that along with his mother still wanting to push Kuku down his throat and abandoning him is what makes him feel so betrayed.

2) It once again drives the point home that RK is astute and a good judge on underlying emotional currents. It also proves that he is ready to go beyond accepted limits of behavior to accept and settle his in-laws. In some ways he has extended his protection to them and is striving to be a part of Madhu's family. He seems to envy the relationship that Maliks share and wants to be a part of it. This also proves that he is not playing some perverted plan to hurt Madhu later.

3) While I agree not every relationship needs to have name - but the fact remains that Padmini and Shamsher do not share a sibling like or friend like relationship as articulated by Shamsher today. What they feel for each other is much more intense- They have probably stuck to their stands all these years because they did not want to risk losing what they had for what could have been. Only a concerned but astute outsider person could have brought up the issue and RK fits in those shoes. Besides marriage gives them much more legal rights over each other- if they were married, Ballu cannot drag Paddy away because Shamu would have right to protect her. If they are not married Paddy is fair game for Ballu. Would you rather that a couple spend their entire life under an ambiguous relationship wondering what could have been or would you rather they accept what they feel for each other, get married and get all the social/legal/moral rights to each other?

4) It once again serves to set a roadblock in Ballu's plans. It also makes Maliks indebted to RK for future plots. It might also be used to further define the relationship between RK and Trishna. Besides RK needs a valid reason to be involved in lives of Maliks when Ballu strikes. This marriage sets up a perfect scenario.

5) There are practical reasons for this plot, it focuses on supporting actors. If this show has to run for more than a year then CVs have to balance exposure between main couple and other characters. The idea is to use the tracks with side actors in such a way that eventually they add up contributing to the growth of main couple. I for one feel that the CVs are doing very well on that count. I have to add that track has much needed underlying social message without being preachy.

Why is there no longer any passion in main couple's interactions? We were promised a love story with darkness and passion abounds'instead we are being fed this run of the mill love story.

I agree that the USP of show is passion...but how then how do you run a show for months that underlines passion without becoming stale. After a while eye locks, falling-catching, hugs all are going to become boring. If RK reverts back to his beastly state with Madhu, viewers are going to be put off by the continuous negativity and how he mistreats Madhu like a doormat. If Madhu keeps fighting him on everything then she comes across a fool who does not know how and when to pick a fight to her advantage and is nave enough not to understand her husband's feelings. The CVs are balancing the sweetness with the help of supporting actors and tracks that focus on more than the couple. RK is still RK...he does not give in on everything but he is mellowed for now. He does not back off when Madhu gets angry with him for suggesting marriage, he did not just run to his mother's lap to make up because Madhu suggested it. He does not cancel shoots to pamper Madhu. He is still taken aback when she suggests champi. He still teases her and passes sarcastic comments. Once in a while his beastly side still rears head like when Madhu ignored him but he has calmed down for now. If you think about it the changes are subtle but not unusual'you expect some level of concern when you live with someone in same room for extended period and in current scenario both of them are drawn to each other by forces beyond their control. Something drastic has to happen for him to go back to his old ways. With so many negative shows on tube, I am happy with being in limbo where he is not hen pecked but then there are no contrived MU to pull the couple apart.

It is my understanding based on initial promotional material that the story was loosely based on "Phantom of opera" with Romeo and Juliet like ending. Furthermore the PH wanted to showcase the struggles of junior artists in the show. However the storyline did not pick up and the show ended up on chopping block in August. The storyline was revamped to make it more exciting' romance and kitchen politics were added to make the story more palatable to the viewers. The way I see it now we are seeing more of a "Beauty and Beast" with a side helping of "Phantom of the opera" and "Alice in wonderland" with a probable happy ending. The focus has moved away from the struggles of junior artists to the struggles of celebrities and downside of fame and success. I don't think this storyline is in any way inferior to the original one. In fact, I am more excited about it, there are very few known celebrity couples in showbiz where both the partners are immensely successful and yet they have managed to keep their marriage/relationship intact. It will be exciting to see how the couple navigates through media, invasion of privacy, temptations, ambitions, politics, artist mentality, egos, long working hours, family exploitations, fear of failure and professional competitions while keeping their love intact. We will still see passion and darkness but it might not overpower the story. The point remains that the story has been changed and there is no point in comparing it with the original promotional material.

All the love stories are same'a girl and a boy with a number of challenges to overcome. It is the treatment of the story, nature of challenges and characterization of couple that sets a love story apart. For now I believe we are geared towards an unique story here.

What are they doing with the characterization of RK? How could he change, he did not even react when Padmini slapped him and what is with Madhu'where is the strong woman we first saw?

RK is a complicated character and that is the attraction of the show. He was always confident and self-assured; he needed to be, to succeed where he stood. Most actors are borderline narcissist and so is RK. However his unique background and intuitive smartness has ensured that he remains grounded. He basks in adulation and power but it does not truly go to his head, it serves as an armor and weapon to get him what he wants. His only insecurity comes from the fact that he believes that he is destined to remain loveless. His insecurity is on show, every time Dipali pokes him or when he constantly reminds Madhu that she has to leave with him as promised. He still has anger issues with Ballu and Dipali. For now he is seeing a completely devoted Madhu with maybe occasional show of claws...he is satisfied with it. He has said that he has found a reason to live with Madhu's confession so he is trying to live to his fullest. His issues are going to come back in full force if fate tries to take Madhu away from him. In past the people themselves have been responsible for betraying him but it is going to kill him if he feels that Madhu is slipping away even though she loves him like crazy and wants to hold onto him. I do believe we are going to see some semblance of this track very soon. In his own words the pain is immensely more when someone pulls the cup away just when you are ready to take a sip.

Now about much hyped slap...when Madhu had slapped him, he thought Madhu was overreacting (which she was)...he did not particularly care for Madhu and Madhu did it in front of his crew which made him angry. Padmini's slap proved the point he was trying to make and he probably expected it. Also he understood the reason behind the slap. Coupled with the respect he feels for Paddy, he might have felt the shock but he had achieved what he set to do...so there was no anger but a sense of satisfaction hence the smile.

Fortunately or unfortunately they have not developed Madhu's character yet. I have an odd feeling that her character has not been developed on purpose. For now she is a very young person who is completely in thrall of her enigmatic superstar husband. She is idealistic, righteous and brash. She does not understand the relationships and their complications yet. In her eyes everything is either black or white...there is no grey. She has no understanding of love, darker passions or even betrayal. She has been pampered and protected in her family and then RK took her under his wing. While she has heard how evil her birth father is but she has never truly encountered evil or felt it strike and rip your family apart. You can see her simplicity in the way she deals with her in-laws and Dipali in particular.

Depending on how you define strength, I do think that she is still strong person'It takes strength to leave hate behind and love someone who has hurt you. It takes strength to sacrifice oneself for their family and forgive your wimpy fianc. It takes strength to be vulnerable to a person who has the capability and probably intentions of hurting you. It takes strength in admitting that you might be wrong. She has a very complicated husband and she will need a backbone as well wits to deal with him. She will need to be very strong if she wants to hold on to RK and make something balanced out of this relationship. We will see how her character develops as the story progresses, for now I am not particularly happy with her naive characterization with constant waterworks.

How should the story progress?

Everyone has their own thoughts on how the story should progress and they are all right in their own ways. I have seen several posts on how the show should be more passionate (I am assuming they are requesting more chemistry between couple on screen) or how it is high time there be a MU (I am not sure why negativity and separation are considered the only way to move the story forward. We constantly complain about all shows going Ekta way with immense negativity but then we tend to fall back on the same bag of tricks to create tension in the storyline), when we we will see a love triangle form (Do we always need an another person to break a marraige? Realistically how many people fall for married women/guy enough to pursue them relentlessly) or even how we should move onto Madhu becoming star phase. I am sure they are all coming in future tracks but the each of these tracks are long and will add a dimension to the characterization that is hard to take back. Once you have shown passion, there is no hesitation/innocence in their interaction. Once you have had a separation, there is no way to get back fearless simplicity and dreams of long life together. Once a triangle is formed- it will fracture the sweetness in Rishbala relationship and add baggage to it, are we sure we want to deal with it at this point. Once Madhu becomes star, romance will cease to be the focus, we will move to drama territory and focus on external forces with romance as backdrop.

I like the slow momentum for now because it is placing building blocks for future tracks at the same time maintaining some level of curiosity.
