The difference is of choice. The child has no choice. Eating out of garbage is his only option. Madhu chose to eat out of the dustbin. Free will. She chose to do so to follow an archiac custom. The beauty of traditions lies in the emotions behind it. There is no set formula of steps 1 to 4. She chose to interpret the customs in a manner i find stupid to say the least.

The difference is in survival. The child is already probably malnourished and if he does not eat this, he is probably going to die. There is obviously no one there to care for him and look after him. This does not apply to madhu.

The difference is that this boy is uncared for, with no one there to take his responsibility. He does whatever he can bec of a human instinct of survival. Want to count how many ppl are looking after madhu?

The difference is that he is a CHILD. Madhu is a fully functional adult.

I get that this was a fun post. And usually i amvery good at laughing everything off under the freedom to express oneself. But the sheer insensitivity of this post baffles me.I get that this was a fun post. And usually i amvery good at laughing everything off under the freedom to express oneself. Dont know what gave you the idea that this was a fun post that you wrote like this.. If I make a fun post I make it very clear that it is a fun post. I was not making fun of the boy in my post.. But obviously you didnt get the meaning behind the post.. Perhaps you should think more before replying in haste..

ETA: Obviously there will be many in the forum who just read what is written in the post and not care to dwell on whats behind the post. You might be just one among many.. So no hard feelings...

And by fun post i did not mean making fun of someone post.

By my definitions, a fun post is something that is written a light vein, in humour, to bring a smile on someones face, or to lighten up the situation.

My thought was that you were amused at all the hoopla over the dustbin sequence so you thought to lighten up the mood. I did not like what you wrote.

So if this was not a fun post by either my or your definition, what kind of post was this? God forbid! A serious one? Really?

The intention behind my post was to make people think.. Not to create a ruckus in the forum calling people insensitive because they think eating from the dustbin is bad.. Every situation demands its own action.. But then again people are welcome to think what they want.. Everyone thinks differently, reacts differently..

Time for me to rush home now.. Already stayed back late.. Have a good day..

Sonu, I missed reading your posts. This one was incredible just like always, but why the delete??? Not many viewers liked the scene, but I saw it as Madhu's true level of devotion, care, and affection towards her husband and the CV ritual. It was greatly executed, I'm off to read your other post.

Thanks Zoya... If you read some of the replies in the post you will see that one of them felt I was being insensitive by giving the picture of the boy.. She felt there were more than 40 lakhs difference between the boy and Madhu.. Madhu, acc to her, had the choice unlike the little boy in the picture. What she failed to grasp is the title of my post and the meaning behind the title.. I always run this risk when I post HumTum posts.. Many people fail to grasp the bigger picture. Earlier I used to give thought for the day and lesson for the day so that the meaning behind my posts are much more clearer to all.. I didnt do that with this one bcos most of the readers of my HumTum posts always look for the subtle messages hidden in my HumTum posts.. The reason I deleted the post was that I didnt get time to review my post and modify the my post to make the post clearer to those who didnt understand.. Since one of the intentions of my HumTum posts is to put my point across subtely I thought I failed myself as a writer.. When the readers of my posts have to resort to sarcasm it means the job I do is pathetic..

It was a good post ... review /modify it by all means , but I don't think u should delete it altogether .

When in d 28/11 epi , Madhu said to Bittuji about that sargi from d bin - " Thaili ke andar hai ... ussey kyaa farq partaa hai ... kuchh nehi hoga mujhe " - it suddenly brought back to me the fact that after all she had lived in a chawl all her life . The writers might have penned the scene to under score M's junooni ishq , but for me , it brought into perspective , this One very important reality about d protagonist's life ...

Then I saw your post ... it was disturbing ... but it also made me think - that , but for a stroke of good luck - < ie. Padmini n Trishna getting rescued n sheltered by Shamsher n Roma > - Madhu , if at all she was born , could very well have been in a situation similar to that child ... n that's d reality of our land : (

Imo u should keep d post 👍🏼

Sonu sweetie, you would never be able to satisfy everyone. There would be always few voices that would love to disagree. As long as the material is not hurtful to the reader, you have done your job as the writer. Your responsibility ends there; how a reader interprets your writing is completely out of your hands. People have different filters, and you can't foresee how each individual will act. I liked the post and didn't see it as a hurtful material.
