RK gave a quick look around as soon as he entered the house, his eyes searching for his biwi.
Radhaji: Rishu you finally came back home. You are really late today! Are you hungry? Do you want to serve you dinner? RK couldn't hear anything as he was too worried about his biwi and he ran up to his room, the moment he was sure that she wasn't downstairs.
Several minutes after RK bursted down the stairs. There he saw his mom and Deepali sitting together on the sofa and he could hear them talking.
Radhaji: You are okay right dear? I know karva Chauth is not easy and the moon came especially late this year.
Deepali: Don't worry mummiji. After all no matter how hard it is, it is my duty to pray for my husband. A wife's happiness lies in her husband's well being and- Deepali's sentence was suddenly cut off by a sound of applause. Her and Radhaji looked around to see RK looking at them with the usual disgusted look.
RK: Taaliya!! Are biwi to Deepali jaisi! Right Mrs Kuku Bhatia? Are bechari Deepali, she fasted for her husband, yes only she can fall sick but Madhu is a superwoman, there's no need to worry about her, right?
Radhaji: What? Madhu kept fast for you? I didn't know and how dare she! after I ordered her not to!
RK: YOU ordered her not to? Exactly what right do you have to order MY wife not to fast for me? who are you to me, MRS Kuku Bhatia? But even if you didn't know, you are not blind, are you? It was VERY obvious that she wasn't feeling well and it was her FIRST karva chauth of course it would be even harder on her! Oh but of course, you turned yourself blind to madhu, right?
Radhaji: It's not like that-
RK: it's exactly like that! and why are you crying? i really don't understand why you are crying. If there was a category for the person who shed the most tears in the world record book, I'm sure you would have received the award!
Deepali: RK! i know this is your house but you have no right to talk to an elder like that! not even in your own house. How could you-
RK: And what makes you so different, huh? You respect a lot? Do you take me for a fool? You know that your tricks doesn't work me and that your useless husband and father-in-law are well useless, so you make your moves on the best candidate, meri-janam-wali-aurat. Why am i not right?
Deepali just glared at him without uttering a word.
RK: Munna! Pandey! Come here all of you! Listen to me very carefully, for a whole week absolutely no food will be cooked in this house! and no food or grocery will be bought either! All of you bhatia will not eat or drink anything for one week!
Everyone was shocked and looked at RK with stunned and frightened eyes.
Radhaji: Rishu what are you saying? I know that i commited a mistake, but still-
RK: oh that's not why I'm making you all suffer. And don't you dare blame madhu for my decision, if there's someone you want to blame, then blame Deepali.
Sikky: hey RK don't point fingers at my wife! You have no right-
RK: I'm not pointing any fingers at her, I'm only stating a matter of fact. Why don't you ask your lovely wife what she did this morning? This daylight witch-
Bittuji: CHIEF! Bhabhiji gained consciousness!!! Please come quick! She's asking for you.
RK: BIWI! (RK ran up the stair immediately)
Radhaji: gained consciouness? what do you mean? what's going on Bittuji?
Bittuji: Bhabhiji had fainted 15 minutes ago, but i couldn't do anything as I didn't want to break her fast..i knew that would make her sad.
Deepali: Heh yeh Madhubala! Kitni drama karti hai! She's just doing all this to trap RK after all karva chauth is not THAT hard that a person would faint!
Bittuji: True, you are right for once! But it is hard if you ate only one little bite of food and nothing else because a certain someone threw the sargi made by your mother-in-law in the garbage bin!
Radhaji: WHAT?! Deepali you did that? So this is what Rishu meant! Why would you do such a thing?
Deepali: woh mummyji you ordered her not to fast for RK, so I thought that I should try to stop her..
Radhaji: yes i ordered her not but if she did end up fasting anyway that doesn't mean you should make the poor child starve like that!!! How could you Deepali!!! But what am i scolding you. i'm just as much guilty as you are. It's my fault for listening to you and for breaking my trust and faith in madhu that quickly. ( Tears were falling profusely out of Radhaji's eyes and she left to her room).
Kukiji: Are dekho Lale!! Because of your wife, I'm going to be starved for a whole week. if i don't survive this I will haunt you for the rest of my life and- (Kukuji stopped talking when he met Deepali's glare)
Soon both father and son left the scene quietly like two scared little mouses.
