I guess a slew of saas bahu shows which rank at the top and are seen by the core Indian audience that is unfortunately the kitchen audience. These awards mostly go by general popularity and yes, an Akshara is more famous than Madhu of Madhubala. Audience cares more about Priya of BALH wasting her fab talent on a poor script than an Anoop Soni hosting Crime Patrol or a Mohit Raina doing a fantastic job on Mahadev.

Another issue is the tendency to continue awarding older actors year after year. For younger ones, you have these new face , great performer , star performer and other awards which basically mean - kids , back off .

Also, production houses have favours with the juries of these awards. Small example, why have Vivian and Rati been given these awards and not in the 'best actor' category?
