He is disgusted by Dips. Because she is an opportunist. And if that was not enough, she is ready to be an adulteress as well. As she has no principles left.To me, I always felt, RK just cannot hate Dips or ignore, but can only get disgusted. And most of the disgust is diverted on himself only. As in how could he trust himself with her ? How ? How?When I am disgusted, I am highly affected. It's repelling feeling that you get all over.The disgusting feeling around Dips will go away only once RK accepts that even he is allowed to make mistakes. Your whole post was brilliant but I singled out these pieces of text beause I honestly believe that you are right in this analysis. I've been struggling to accept that he could honestly still feel feelings of love for Dipzy or that he was SOO in love with her that he can't let it go. Because honestly, the way they portray Dipzy and her so-called knowledge on the inner workings of her one true love don't speak of a deep emotional connection that was true love, it speaks of a superficial young love that didn't go all the deep below the surface. Does that make sense.
So I like your take that it's more disgust on his part that he was so wrong in reading someone.. It gels with my own take on what I think their relationship was like.
