I m confused by episode 642. When the gang was first introduced wasn't it already established as to what happened in their past that cause them to stand on the opposing end of the law? Shivani's whole MMS story, binni's sexual assault, begam sahiba's abusive relationship were all explained. Why is haseena only realizing this now? Did I miss an episode or is this a continuity error?

I am sorry but who the tf does haseena think she is? shivani is traumatised. the mere mention of her past triggers the kind of body language we haven't seen from her thus far. she has always been stoic and well-composed. but the talk of her MMS has her eyes watering, looking almost dazed, fingers fidgeting, and all-round jittery. It's right there, so painfully obviously spelt out right in front of them.
but no, instead of sympathising with and dealing with this sensitively, she resorts to provoking Shivani by saying she is afraid. for a split second there I was impressed with her ability to state the obvious and acknowledge that yes, the victim is afraid. and then she said it was the fear of losing her position that sent everything crashing and burning. she purposely instigated Shivani just so that she could satisfy her own ego by delivering a false sense of justice. where are her jazbaat right now? where is the compassion everyone in the city speaks so highly about?
it doesn't end there however. she goes on to say that she can get rid of the hurt, anger, pain. don't make promises you can't keep. don't compare the agony you haven't experienced to your false sense of peace. it was so cringe-worthy and uncomfortable to witness someone speaking about trauma so casually and nonchalantly.
writers, if you want to tackle a serious topic such as trauma and sexual assault, please do it properly. this inaccurate representation to damaging to the young minds and the general audience who watch the show and look up to these characters. haseena doesn't understand trauma. stop making her preach about it as if she is a psychologist.
speaking of which, there are two qualified officers on the team to handle such cases, cheeteshwar (women psychologist) and Pushpa Ji (counseller). do your damn research and use the characters. if you don't want to, replace them with furniture; that will save the production house a lot more money. the utter disappointment I felt when watching them standing and doing nothing to intervene in the garbage claims haseena was making is unfathomable.
not to mention, taking billu signature through deception. it's not funny, it's hypocrisy. i liked that cheetah and my masumiyat chided him for singing without reading- already shows whose side they are on.
shivani's backstory was heart-rendering. her trust to mercilessly broken not once, not twice but thrice by people she was supposed to be able to trust- her lover, the justice system and her parents. I truly appreciate the reality check she gave the MPT. they live in a country where more than half the population goes to bed on an empty stomach and that is why corruption is so ubiquitous. the mark of shame that cements itself in our lives after getting a prison record can never be washed. that's the reality of life and I loved how this wasn't sugar coasted. shivani stated it as it is. the resentment she felt for her parents was a relief to witness because every other time in this show parents get a clean chit for simply giving birth to the child.
her feelings here are valid. even if the world doesn't see it that way, Shivani knows that they are and that is where her self-assurance comes from. shivani says she has moved on and it shows in her words, her actions and her goals.
it also explains why her worldview isn't clouded by emotions. It's because those very things have been used to break her once and she isn't going to let that happen again. along with that, she doesn't let her morality sway between black and white. there is a shade of grey there and she is willing to tow the line if it is worth the cause. this is the kind of anti-heroes ITV needs.

fell in love with these lines. the way Rachna delivered them made them all the more heartbreaking.
It's coming full circle now.
