HE cant be a Saxena ...

Is all that Damini could think about... She couldn't pay attention to Prithvi's charming smile or his intense gaze...

HE can't be a Saxena ...

Is all she could think about later... she didn't remember the deal that Inder struck with Prithvi .. she didn't remember that she had nodded her approval to that...she didn't remember the way he escorted her to her car...

He saw her raging emotions ...He felt a knot in his gut... He wasn't celebrating though he just had his first victory...

Was it the way, her face lost all its vibrant color? or was it the way her hands shook a little while she nibbled at her food ? or was it the way, she bit her lower lip slightly?

He didn't know, all he knew was he didn't get to hear her or feel her... All he could feel was her guilt ..

He had escorted her home at Inder's behest, and yet she had remained in her trance ... He had hoped that she would ask him the most important question that was racing through her mind.. yet she didn't...

HE cant be a Saxena ...

is all she could think about ... as she walked away from his car, away from his outstretched arm .. away from HIM ...

She sank to the ground as soon she hit her familiar setting ... her bed-frame offering her the welcoming support ...

Her hands went around her knees, bringing them closer and she sat emotionless ...staring at the curtains blowing ...

It was windy that night too ...

She had been searching ... screaming out of her mind ... His body lay slumped over the sofa ...she had not missed her target ...

Trembling, she had moved forward and checked ... Yes.. she had killed him all right ... Her mom lay unconscious on the side..

Her Mom ... Damini stirred ... He had betrayed her ... Her Mom suffered because of him ... He was supposed to protect her and Yet, he CHOSE not to...

Damini's eyes were fierce .. She would always protect her family ... right or wrong, she had chosen her way ...

The door to her room, opened slightly and Damini didn't turn...

"Damini Beta ...", a soft voice spoke behind her ...

"He was a Saxena", is all Damini could say...
