Saturday evening saw trembling Sameer and Varun and amused Avni and Rosh at the party.

Trembling Sameer and Varun - I can so picture that 🤣

So, it was nervous foursome that met Prithvi and Damini when they entered the party. Seeing her sisters so unnerved, Damini was concerned. "What is the matter, Rosh?", she enquired. " Di, that.. that .. mausiji ...", is all Rosh could say. " It is better that this meeting is over asap. Mausiji had managed to render even Rosh speechless", Prithvi thought worried.

OMG she rendered Rosh speechless and now Prithvi is worried. Bechara. 🤣

Avni said looking in Sameer's and Varun's direction, who were just gulping down sherbets and watching the show. I can totally picture this 🤣

This was great Mru - their comments about Damini's hair and her blouse and her calling Prithvi by his name - spot on. I remember the discussion PriDa had after they agreed to the wedding when Pri says some wives call their husbands aap and Damini says why can the husbands not call the wives aap. I am happy PriDa call each other tum. 😳 Purane yaadein taaza kar diye tumne 😍

Yep some oldies disapproved of me too - me cosmopolitan Bombay girl too forward for their tastes 😉. Now they consider me way out of their league - they don't even bother with me any more - I am US resident after all - they think I have two horns and leave me alone - which is just fine with me - just fine. 😃

Enjoyed it a lot. Especially when the old lady talks about the girl she wanted Pri to marry and Damz starts grilling Pri. Loved Pri for what he said "Damini Gujral, you are not the wife that I may need but you are the wife I always want ..".. 😍😍

I dont like it, but i loved it. Wonderful part, you shouldnt have to finish sweety. It would better if it's lil longer, but anyways thanks, and continue soon, cause it's not less my thirst.

Scene 14: Main nahi darti (I am not afraid of anything)

"Oh Come On, Damini Di.. you have to take the days off.. It would be so much fun.. pleaseee", Rosh whined. "Roshni, don't be a kid. I can't just dump the work and take a vacation", Damini admonished her. " Oh..Di, you are always working... we never take any vacation .. we have to .. we have to..", Rosh still continued and looked around the room for support. Sameer didn't take the bait. He was still a little bit scared of Damini and neither did Varun. He could barely handle Rosh.

Avni consoled her, " Rosh, if Damini Di is saying that she is busy, then we can go later". "No Avni Di... the weather is so beautiful. We have to go on vacation", Rosh still persisted. Damini was trying her best to concentrate on her paperwork in all the commotion. Prithvi had wisely decided not to interfere. He looked on with amusement. Rosh then tried her trump card "Mama, please convince Damini Di to come with us on vacation. She is not listening to anyone... not even me."

Elaji smiled and looked up from the book, she was reading. She glanced at Prithvi and said " Prithvi Beta, what do you think?" Prithvi just shook his head and nodded towards Damini " As she wishes, Mama". Elaji now turned towards Damini, who was buried in her paperwork. "Damini, you should take the vacation. In fact we will all go. we should go and visit our Karjat farmhouse. It would be a wonderful change", Elaji said. "But Mama, the khanna proposal is due next week", Damini argued. "I am sure you and Prithvi can manage that next week", Elaji continued.

Damini looked at Prithvi who had a tiny smile. "Ooo... Mama.. even you got sucked into Roshni's idea.. Mama..", now it was Damini's turn to whine. But Elaji was in no mood to relent. "No Damini, it is decided we will all go to the Karjat farmhouse. I want no arguments. Avni Beta, Will you be ok with the trip?". Avni nodded and said " I will be ok, Mama.. It will be great to go on a family vacation."

"Yes.. it is a great idea.. it will be great fun", Sameer now said, once he was sure that Damini was no threat. Varun also nodded and smiled. "Prithvi Bhaiyya, Karjat has a lot of mountains.. you can go mountain biking as you used to in Manali", Varun said. Prithvi's eyes twinkled at that thought. He really enjoyed that. " what is this mountain biking??", Damini asked. " It is what the name says, mountain biking", Prithvi smiled. "Would you like to join? the sport is pretty rough though.. it may not be suitable for .." " For whom, Prithvi.. for girls... is that what you meant??... ", Damini accused. Prithvi tried to calm her down .. "No Damini, I was just going to say it might be dangerous for Avni.." " okey", Damini said still looking at him suspiciously.

"Damini Di, we should try it then... It is decided then.. Prithvi Jeej , we will join you in that...Damini Di, don't worry .. we will go shopping for new biking clothes.. yea.. it would be wonderful..", Rosh said excitedly. Before Damini could say a word, Sameer said.. "Prithvi Bhaiyya, you should arrange for mountain bikes for all.. except Avni and Mama..Mayb I will stay with them too... It would be fun..". Rosh and Sameer continued their chatter excitedly.

"Okey Okey.. calm down .. we will all go on thursday then. I will arrange for the bikes.", Prithvi tried to restore order unsucessfully. Elaji was pleased with all the plans and smiled contentedly. So the next evening, Rosh dragged Avni and Damini to the store to shop for new clothes.. after all they can't go on vacation without new clothes, she tried to convince them.

Thursday afternoon saw an excited bunch enter the Karjat farmhouse. Roshni and Sameer had chatted incessantly during the drive and had driven everyone else especially Damini mad. She had almost started regretting the decision to come. But then the beautiful surroundings of Karjat soothed her senses. The Karjat farmhouse was a huge house built in the old style.. lots of rooms with long corridors. There was a huge living room, with a large fireplace. Damini had lots of memories coming to this place, with her parents and sisters when they were young. Somehow, after her father's death, they hadn't had a chance to visit this place. She remembered how she and her sisters played hide-n-seek in the huge house and how Rosh and Avni would be scared of this place in the night. Prithvi smiled to himself watching Damini lost in her thoughts. At least her face was relaxed, that means she is not thinking abt work, Prithvi was happy to note.

The family settled into the farmhouse, with Roshni going all over and picking out her room first. Avni wandered around the garden, enjoying all the familiar and not-so-familiar plants and flowers. Damini checked out the house with her mom and talked with the house staff. Prithvi and his brothers wandered around the surroundings. The place reminded them of Manali.. They loved it.

After a wonderful dinner, the entire family settled in the big living room. The night had brought in fog, which settled outside everywhere comfortably. A big fire was crackling in the fireplace. Elaji and the rest of family sat around the fireplace. Elaji was keeping everyone in splits talking about the girls adventures in this place when they were young. The boys were also enjoying at the expense of the girls. Rosh was teased for being scared all the time and always sleeping next to her Mama. Sameer had a hearty laugh when he heard about Avni's tantrum at the poor gardener, when he didn't allow her to cut her favourite flower off the plant. Damini wasn't spared either. Elaji recalled all the times when the poor house staff were driven to tears when something wasn't going as per Damini's plan.

After few hours of story telling, Elaji was now tired. She made sure that Avni was ok and retired to her room for the night. "Avni, are you sure you don't want to sleep? It is already 11", Sameer checked with Avni. "No Sameer, I am fine.."Avni said reclining comfortably on the chair, with her feet on the teapoy.

"ok, then what should we do now?", Sameer looked around the room. "Should we play cards?", Rosh suggested.."Nah.. mayb we should ..", Sameer looked at Avni " tell ghost -stories",.."What...", Rosh and Avni exclaimed together.." Are you gals scared?", Sameer teased .. Varun also laughed.. Rosh made a face at Varun and said " No... I am not scared..but Avni Di is pregnant na, so it might be scary for the kid"..Avni looked thoughtful for a moment and replied.." Not that I am scared, but I think I will listen to some soothing music.. It is good for the baby.. I read it in the book"..

"Of course, my dear", Sameer said handing her the earphones along with the ipod.. He looked around " Any1 else has any probs now?" Damini just shook her head.. She wasn't afraid of some silly story..Rosh was in two minds.. She looked at Avni and then at Sameer's smirking face. "I am not scared", she declared rather unconvincingly. "Ok then.. Let me take the stage ..Hope you all are ready to be scared out of ur minds", he said with a devilish smile. Prithvi rolled his eyes. Sameer got up and switched off the lights.. Prithvi glanced at Damini, who was now sitting crosslegged, with a blanket around her shoulders. He stared at her beautiful face shining in the glow from the fireplace. He went and sat right next to her. Rosh looked around for her teddy and sat clutching it in her lap, while making sure Varun was nearby. Avni was sitting next to Sameer, totally lost in the sweet sounds of music.

Sameer started his ghost story.."Once upon a time.. there was an old old house.. similar to this one.. There lived an old man ..Who was he?.. noone knew.. was he the owner or caretaker?..noone could tell..." A few minutes passed by, ... by now, Sameer was completely spinning a wonderful story about the ghost in the house, who was haunting the girls who had taken refuge in the house..Poor Rosh was hugging her teddy tightly.. praying for the story to end. While Damini, unknowingly was digging her finger nails into Prithvi's thigh. As the story continued, Rosh was now scared to her wits..She was inching closer and closer to Varun. Prithvi tried to put his hand on Damini hand for support, but she moved his hand away annoyed. "Is he thinking I am scared", she thought irritated, not even realising her nails were still digging into Prithvi.

After few more minutes, Rosh could no longer bear it.. She got up and declared " The story is very good.. but now I am sleepy" Sameer laughed loudly .." Why Miss Roshni, are you scared enough?".. Roshni made a face at him and looked at Prithvi.."Jeej, tell him na, not to tease me.. I am really very tired and want to sleep", she pleaded. " Roshni is a scary cat", Sameer still continued his taunts laughing.

Varun looked at Roshni with concern.. He said "Bhaiyya.. stop it na.. If she says, she is sleepy then she must be"..Sameer still continued laughing. By now Avni took off her headphones and was trying to figure out what was going on.. Finally Prithvi said" Enough Sameer... Everyone is tired.. It has been a long day.. Let us all go to sleep" Rosh looked at her Jeej with tears of relief..Damini got up now and said.."okey now everybody back to their rooms" and she tried to switch on the lights..

But nothing came on.."What is the matter with the lights now", Damini said annoyed. "Ooo... the electricity is out... just like in my story ", Sameer said clapping his hands with joy..Rosh was now terrified..She looked at Damini Di for support. Prithvi slapped Sameer on the back and said " Enough Sameer.. Every1 start walking to their rooms.. I am right behind you with the flashlight"..

First on the corridor was Sameer/Avni's room.. after lighting the candle in their room, Prithvi continued with the rest of the gang. Next in line was Varun's room..He said "Good night " and with a look of concern at Rosh, went to his room.

Now, Prithvi and Damini came up to Rosh's room.. Rosh entered the room tentatively.. It was the same room that she had so excitedly chosen a few hours ago...Prithvi lighted a couple of candles in her room and was about to say goodnight, when he saw her face. He looked over at Damini, nodding at her. Damini understood and held Rosh and asked her gently" Do you want me to stay with you here?".. Rosh meekly shook her head and said "Damini Di.. thanks but may I sleep with Mama tonight?.. I promise I will not wake her up..".. Damini smiled and said "Of course, Rosh.. let us take you to Mama's room"

After making sure Rosh was comfortably sleeping next to her mom, Damini and Prithvi made their way back to their room. "Are you ok?", PRithvi asked her as they were entering .." yea.. Of course, I am fine..do you think I am scared?", She asked him getting a little annoyed.. Prithvi, still reeling from her nail digging, just smiled and said " No .. I was jsut asking..I know you are not scared of anything."..Stung by his smug attitude, Damini rolled her eyes and said confidently "Yes, I am not afraid of anything, so there..".. She turned around to get ready for bed.

Prithvi wisely decided not to antagonise her further. Silently, they both settled down on their bed. Prithvi blew away the candles. Then suddenly he got up.."Where are you going, Prithvi?", Damini enquired.."Don't worry Damini.. I will be right back..I forgot to blow off the candle in the corridor", Prithvi said while exiting the room. The room was now dark. All that Damini could hear was the wind outside the window and the drip-drip of the leaky tap. She started getting restless. "THese are just regular noises", Damini tried to convince herself. But still her heart beats were going up every minute.

"Where the hell is Prithvi?",Damini thought angrily.."Does it take this much time to blow off one candle?", she muttered to herself. Still, there was no sign of Prithvi. She strained her ears trying to make out his footsteps.. but she heard none.

Few more moments passed. It seemed like ages to Damini..by now her heart was racing ..The shadows on the walls were playing tricks on her eyes. She shut her eyes forcefully, but then the howling of the wind gave her chills.."Damini, you are not scared of anything", she kept on thinking trying to lift her sagging spirits..when suddenly the door opened and someone walked in..

Damini got up with a start and asked in a very small voice " Is that you, Prithvi?".. "Yes, Damini, Its me.. are you ok?", Prithvi said climbing back in the bed.." Yea .. of course I am all right..what took you so long", Damini kept her voice high to disguise her fear.." Nothing, I was just checking up on Roshni .. but she is sleeping peacefully hugging mom", Prithvi said.

"oh ok", Damini replied .."Goodnight then"..and settled on her side of the bed. Prithvi wished her goodnight as well settling on his side of the bed. He slept facing her. He knew she was kind of shaken up.. but he knew very well she would never admit it. "My stubborn Damini", he thought lovingly and closed his eyes.

Damini was now trying hard to sleep. At least, her Prithvi was next to her..she tried to think happy thoughts..but nothing helped.. all that she could think off was that ghost from Sameer's story .. Damn him, Damini thought angrily..Sameer and his stupid story..

Prithvi noticed her restless movements in the bed. He was about to put his hand on her, but decided against it, not knowing how she will react. He settled back to his sleep. Damini tried for a few minutes to sleep ... but the ghost kept on haunting her thoughts.

She moved back on her bed till her back hit Prithvi's chest.. She felt comforted by the touch .. she could now feel his warm breath on her neck. Instinctively, Prithvi put a hand on her waist and drew her closer. He buried his head in her hair and held her. Damini did not resist.. her nervousness was waning.. after all she was not afraid of anything now.

Heheh Mru even i got scared lolz. Wonderful part, they should have to use that in show. I wanna see how Damz will react? I remember in restaurant when light turned off she put her hand on Pri hand, and when Pri asked r u scared? She took off her hand and said "No", just like a lil girl.
