Sorry I'm so late Mru!!! Got caught up...

Ok, the last two scenes are completely, totally, fantabulously BRILLIANT (as usual) !!! Love each and every word you've written... And the transition from the first scenes of fights and coolness to jealousy and truce to the explosive passion (*fans herself remembering the tap scene!!!*) and finally the angst and longing was really very well-done!! I've said it before and will say it again - wish you were a cv, babe!!!

Scene 9: Attack of the Alien

Next morning, Damini got up with a persisting headache. Her sleep had been restless. She had a recurring nightmare that she was losing someone important. The face was not visible to her, but she knew who it was. It was definitely him. She groaned and muttered, "That is it. I have had enough. I have to deal with this soon. With that decision, she took a pain-killer and busied herself with the preparation for the upcoming business meeting.

At the Gujral Mansion, Prithvi was already awake. He also had a fitful sleep. He knew that he needed to speak with Damini,figure out where their relationship is headed. " I will speak with her, once she is home", he decided.

Damini's meeting was a good success. She was able to convince the officials on most of her proposal. In a better state of mind, she would have celebrated this milestone. But today, she was in a hurry to get home. She excused herself from the dinner and called up her secretary to change her return flight to an earlier one. Then she called up her mom and let her know that she would be home by dinner.

Prithvi's day was no different. He could only half concentrate on the project he was working on. He couldn't help but think about Damini.Usually it gave him peace but today he was on the edge. He wasn't sure where the discussion about them would lead to. He dreaded to
think about his worst nightmare- the D word. She had proposed that way earlier once. But that was before the truth was known.Would she demand that now? He didn't know for sure. All he knew was that he was not ready to lose her.

It was nearing 6.30 in the evening. All except Prithvi and Damini were home. Elaji announced that her friend Rasika and her daughter Rakhi were coming for dinner. " What , Mama? Rakhi is coming here????", Avni and Roshni screamed in unison. They looked at each other horrified.
Ela aunty nodded and said" Yes, dears. I really want you girls to behave. No rude comments. I like Rasika. We have known each other for a long time now.". Roshni made a face and sulked. " Rasika aunty is fine but why that ...that... that Rakhi...", she still continued. Ela aunty looked at her sternly and said "Rosh beta, now please for me, Be nice to her". Then she left the room to get ready for the visit.

"Who is this Rakhi??", asked Sameer, when he finally couldn't kill his curiousity. "She is Rasika aunty's daughter", Avni replied. "Yea, but why are you so upset about her?", Sameer persisted. " Actually, Sameer Jeej, Rakhi is one useless, over exposed socialite wannabe", Rosh explained. " Over-exposed", Varun asked. Rosh gave him a killer look and said " You will know when she arrives." THen she stomped out of the room. Sameer looked at Avni, who just sighed. Sameer and Varun got no other information from Avni. So, they were kind of excited to meet this wannabe girl, Rakhi..

They didn't have to wait for long. Rasika aunty and Rakhi arrived on time at 7.00..."Ela dear, how have you been", said Rasika hugging Elaji. Then Rakhi made her entrance. Sameer and Varun couldn't belive their eyes. Rakhi was wearing a very low neck, backless short mini dress that left little to the imagination. Her makeup was loud. Her hair had long streaks of blonde, red and blue. Avni and Rosh gave each one a pinch on their arms to stop them from staring at her. " Elaaaa auntyyyyyy, how are you", Rakhi screamed in a squeaky voice.

Ela aunty graciously welcomed Rakhi. Then Rakhi turned her attention to the rest of the family. She hugged Avni and then Rosh in rapid succession. "Avni , Rosh... My dears.. Long time, no see ", she said cheerfully. Rosh almost said " Ra.. Ra.. Rakhi...bimbo..any more new additions to you" but stopped herself in time. She just smiled a fake smile and then proceeded to observe Rakhi.
Rakhi had not even bothered to wait for any reactions from the girls. Now she turned to the boys. She gave them a look head to toe, which creeped out poor Varun. Involuntarily he moved closer to Rosh. Sameer on the other hand, was quite enjoying the new drama queen.

Now, Rakhi was a a girl about the same age as Avni. She had played with the three sisters, while growing up. However, the Gujral sisters had known right long time ago, Rakhi was not to be trusted. She had different views on morality, which pained Avni a lot. She became interested in boys at a very young age. She had honed her boy-getting skills all these years. Though she didn't have success in getting a steady boyfriend, she hadn't given up on her mode of operation. She went aggressively after someone, when she wanted to. With a critical eye, she considered the two specimens in front of her. Varun had a nice smile, but he wasn't her type. Also, she was little bit afraid of Rosh, who might scratch her face, if she tried. Now, Sameer was a nice possibilty. Good body, killer smile and charming. He might do, she thought. Avni felt a little shiver, as she watched Rakhi eyeing her husband.

Prithvi was totally unaware of all the drama that was about to unfold, as he walked through the door a few minutes later. He was still hanging to his cell-phone. No call yet from Damini. But at least she was coming home today. "Jeej, good, that you are home", Avni said a little relieved seeing her Prithvi. Maybe she can get PRithvi to knock some sense into her errant husband. Prithvi nodded and replied that he would be back after a few minutes. He went to their bedroom. He looked around for signs of Damini. He was disappointed when he saw none.

A few minutes later, Prithvi entered the living room, looked around at the new faces. Elaji introduced Prithvi to Rasika and Rakhi. Prithvi gave a polite nod, before excusing himself to go to the stables. He wanted to check on some new horse.

Rakhi's eyes popped out when she laid her beady little eyes on Prithvi. She was speechless looking at the hunk in front of her. Prithvi was dressed casually in a black tee and jeans. She was gaping open-mouthed as she took in his well-built body, his towering height and his handsome face. She knew she had her target. She sat for a few minutes contemplating her next moves to go at Prithvi.

Almost as soon as Prithvi had left, Damini entered the Gujral Mansion. Roshni and Avni jumped up from their seats and ran to hug their big sister. Damini forgot her troubles for a few minutes at their warm reception. "Di, Ra..Ra..Rakhi is here", Roshni whispered in Damini's ears. Damini frowned and looked around to see Rasika Aunty and Rakhi. " Good lord, why is this dumb bimbo here", she thought angrily. She gave a polite wave to both. " Mama, I will be right back after I freshen up", she called out to her mom. She gave a quick glance
around the room, smiling at Varun and Sameer, but really searching for him. "Di, Jeej has gone to the stables. He will be back in a few minutes", Avni said smiling at her sis. Damini kissed her sisters and went upstairs.

By the time, Prithvi came back, Rakhi had decided on her plan. Ela aunty and Rasika were catching up on old times in a quiet corner. Rakhi went up to Prithvi and threw her arms around him. "How nice to meet you, Prithvi", she said.. " Prithvi Jeej, Rakhi", corrected Avni. But Rakhi didn't bother to correct. Prithvi was no Jeej to her. Prithvi awkwardly moved back. She started talking non-stop to Prithvi.

Prithvi was getting uncomfortable around her. He was never someone who was at ease in company of women, who weren't related to him. Even in his college, he would be awkward when any girl flirted with him. Now here, this girl was literally touching hime every few seconds and talking some mindless crap. What is wrong with this girl. He even tried excusing himself to go to his home office, to get rid of her. But Rakhi had followed him there too. Not wanting to be alone with her, Prithvi retreated back to the living room. At least there, he would be protected by his family. But, he got no support even there. Sameer was clearly enjoying his discomfort. Varun looked on helpless to save his big brother. Avni and Rosh were no help either. They knew they can't take on Rakhi by themselves.

So, Sat poor Prithvi on the sofa, trying to make conversation with the others, desperately trying to drown out the squeaky voice next to him.

This is how Damini saw Prithvi, when she entered. She was feeling a little bit better now that she was home. Prithvi looked up when Damini came. Their eyes met. Each of them unsure of how to react. Finally PRithvi gave her a small smile hesitatingly. Damini responded with her dazzling smile, which quickly turned into a frown as soon as she saw Rakhi sitting inches away from her husband. "Stay clear of my husband", Damini thought angrily. Prithvi quickly got up and went and stood right next to Damini.

"Damini, how have you been... Are you still slogging in office?.. I still can't understand why you do it". Rakhi said. Damini successfully conquered her urge to throw the vase at Rakhi. She merely said "Work is important, dear. ". She then went and sat next to Avni. Rakhi came and stood by Prithvi again, making inane comments. Prithvi just stood there, hands crossed across his chest, frowning. "Why is she still talking to me? How can I give her a hint to leave me alone?", Prithvi thought. He thought quite uncharacteristically " Maybe I stuff something inside her mouth .. Mayb then she would stop ...", Prithvi gave a little smile as he thought of this plan.

Damini caught Prithvi smiling and her head starting thumping again. "So, now he is enjoying her company.. the rascal". Prithvi continued thinking " Mayb I can go and hide behind Damini.. ". Thinking about Damini, he turned to look at her. Her eyes were flashing anger. Prithvi looked away.

The rest of the gang were watching this at a safe distance. Avni and Roshni knew that only their Damini Di can teach Rakhi a lesson. They were quite looking forward to that. Damini was now contemplating on how to drive this girl out. She looked around and saw her mom smiling at her, which puzzled her even more. Damini nodded at Prithvi to come and sit by her on the sofa. Prithvi almost ran to the sofa, gratefully. His Damini would protect him now. Rakhi who was shameless, follwed PRithvi. Thus continued the game.

Throughout the course of the evening and dinner, Damini had used all kinds of sarcasm to tell Rakhi to back off. She also came close to using her knife at her during dinner. She had successfully managed to stomp on Rakhi's foot, let the statue fall on her hands. Prithvi thoroughly enjoyed seeing Damini. Finally Rakhi stopped flinging herself at PRithvi. Rakhi was scared now that if she continued, Damini would certainly use her gun at her. When Rasika and Rakhi left, everyone heaved a huge sigh of relief.

Sameer started teasing Prithvi about Rakhi. "Bhaiyya, what is your opinion of her", Sameer continued shamelessly. "Sameer, leave Jeej alon", Avni reprimanded Sameer. " Interesting girl", is all Prithvi could come up with.. Damini who had till now, admirably controlled her growing anger yelled " what do you mean interesting???.. you think that tramp is interesting , huh".. Before Prithvi could answer, she ran upstairs.

Prithvi followed her slowly grinning ear to ear. Jealous Damini is a good sign, he thought. He was even ready to face her wrath now.

Elaji noted all that had happened. It was not how she planned, but she was pleased with the way it turned out. She was glad that she insisted to Rasika to get Rakhi along as well to visit. She felt a little bit guilty using Rakhi as such, but then "Everything's fair in love and war", she convinced herself smiling.

Scene 11: Temporary Truce.

Prithvi now followed Damini back to their bedroom. Damini was muttering to herself angrily.." The stupid oaf, interesting girl, my foot..wish I had my gun handy. Would have loved to shoot at her silicone butt". Prithvi stood behind Damini, letting her vent her anger out.He was just so glad to have her back. "Angry Damini is still better than no Damini", he thought.

Damini turned and saw Prithvi ... " Oh, so now you have come here. Why don't you follow your new friend to her house" "Damini... ", Prithvi interjected.. " I just said interesting girl as a polite comment. It meant nothing, trust me".."Trust you!!!!!!!!"...screamed Damini...." What have you done so far that I should??", she accused him..." I come back after a couple of days and what do I
get as a welcoming present? My husband flirting with a bimbette"... Prithvi instinctively smiled at the husband remark.. Good, at least she still considers me a husband.

"See.. there .. you have that silly grin on your face again... Usually you are all Mr serious...Now you can't help but smile.. and that too at her".. Damini continued her rant.."Damini, you are over-reacting... ", Prithvi tried to say..But Damini was in no mood to relent. " Typical Male... that is what you are, Prithvi Saxena ... typical.. it doesn't even matter who the girl is... if someone flirts, suddenly your ego is stoked.. ".. continued Damini .." It doesn't matter.. see little skin and you are suddenly hooked..".. Damini turned around.. She knew that she had said too much .. Her Prithvi was never a ladies man. . Why do I always say such horrid things..What is wrong with me.. she thought bitterly..before closing the drawer with a vengeance.." Ouch... ", Damini cried in pain.

Her finger was caught in the drawer... Prithvi reached around her and slid the drawer open slowly releasing her finger. He caught her shoulders from behind and brought her close to his chest and held her. Damini closed her eyes. She started sobbing uncontrollably. Was it just the physical pain ? She knew it wasn't. She was angry and frustrated with herself and Prithvi. Her headache came back with a vengenace.

PRithvi could never see Damini crying. He turned her around and hugged her tight. He knew they both needed to be just close with each other. Damini felt at ease in his familiar arms. How she had missed him. Why can't they be normal?, she wondered angrily. She let her pent-up emotions flow through her tears. Prithvi continued holding his darling wife close. He wasn't in any rush
to let her go.

After a few minutes of silence, Damini slowly stepped back from Prithvi. She wiped her tears unsucessfully and said " Prithvi,, why didn't you call?"..Prithvi knew then how wrong he had been. She had waited for him to call. His stupid male ego had caused her pain again. "Damini... I am so sorry.. I just didn't know what your reaction would be...", Prithvi said in a low voice.. Damini continued.." I waited and waited to hear your voice... why did I?.. I should have known better..", She felt tears welling up in her eyes again.. Prithvi cupped her face in his hands and rubbed off her tears with his finger.." Damini.. ".. is all he could say.

She wanted to believe that she saw real repentance in his eyes..She wanted to give him one more chance.."Prithvi.. I am not sure what to do now.. I do want to give 'us' a chance..but. "..Prithvi was so thankful to hear that .."Damini.. how about we take one day at a time...", asked Prithvi.. Damini nodded. She can do that.. She stared at her finge, which was now turning a deep shade of purple from the drawer impact.. Prithvi gently took her hand in his and kissed her fingers.

" Damini.. I think you should rest now.. It has been a long day for you...".. Damini went to the bed and sat down on it. Prithvi went to the sofa.. when he heard Damini say in a low voice behind him.." Prithvi.. why don't you come and sleep next to me?"..Prithvi closed his eyes when he heard this..He had been waiting to hear this for a long time now..He turned and said " are you sure? ".. Damini nodded. Prithvi gave her a small smile which was returned by Damini as well..

That is how they slept.. the husband - wife .. each on their side of the bed, with their fingers interlocked..
After a long time indeed, Prithvi and Damini slept a peaceful sleep.. a temporary truce today at least..

Awwwwwwwwww Mru, that was really beautiful. Seriously i hate that Rakhi character, but loved it how Damz reacted, and how Ela smartly used her for their patchup.

Seriously lovely scenes, in pain u could see more love.
