Part Eighteen
It had been a few weeks since they had returned from Manali. They had fallen back into their usual routine of work and taking care of their family. Roshni had decided to join the office full time as her studies were almost completed. Damini was overseeing the work while Prithvi and Varun dragged her off to a meeting.
She felt a bit weary today. Roshni returned from the meeting.
" Jeej and Varun, I just don't know why they took me with them. It was so boring there! Come Di tell me how they are doing with my office," Roshni said.
Damini smiled slightly.
" Roshni it is important to know what is going on. Personal meetings can be very productive if planned in advance,."
Her youngest sister would need time to adjust to everything. In the coporate world.
Suddenly she felt weak, and crumbled to the ground. Roshni was busy glancing at the paint chips but realized someone or something had fallen. She turned around and gasped.
" Damini Di!,"
Meanwhile, Prithvi and Varun were at the florist shop across the street.
" What are you getting Bhabhi?," Varun inquired.
Prithvi smiled as he touched the orange tulips.
" Damini loves tulips. What about for Roshni?," he said as he gave his youngest brother a knowing look.
" Bhaiya..,"
" Dekho Varun, she really loves you. We all have had our rough patches with each other but now things can only get better. Don't let someone take her away from you," Prithvi stated firmly.
Varun smiled and nodded in understanding.
" You are right, actually in the matter of fact she did mention she like daffodils. I'll place them in her office after the construction is complete."
Suddenly Prithvi's phone rang.
" Hello Roshni," he said into the phone as he flashed his brother a smile.
He then turned solemn hearing what his younger sister-in-law had to say. The flowers fell from his hands as he began to run with Varun following close behind.

People were surrounding the room. Roshni had Damini's head in her lap and was yelling for water and for help. She looked up to see Prithvi and Varun.
" Jeej, Varun dekho na Damini Di ko kya hogaya!," she exclaimed.
( Look what has happened to Damini)
Prithvi and Varun kneeled down next to them. Prithvi tried to arouse her with some water, but she was barely opening her eyes. He picked her up and told Varun to go get the car. Roshni followed them out. They all rushed to the hospital. After Prithvi and Roshni went inside, Varun went to park.
Prithvi kept his hand on hers as they rushed her to the emergency room. When they arrived , he had to let go. He caressed her face once before they took her inside.
Varun returned and inquired if he should call anyone else. Prithvi told him to wait. It was best not to worry everyone until more was known.
A doctor came out awhile later.
"Mr. Prithvi Saxena?," she inquired.
Prithvi got up and approached her.
"Doctor I am Prithvi. Meri biwi kaisi hai," he inquired.
The doctor turned solemn.
" There is bad news and good news. Damini had a sudden drop in blood pressure, She needs to take better care of herself," the doctor admonished.
"Good news kya hai doctor," Prithvi inquired..
The doctor smiled.
" I assuming is would be the first time. She is pregnant Mr. Saxena," she declared.
Prithvi was stunned. Their dream of becoming parents was going to come true.
" Are they any complications, I mean is the baby and Damini …," he trailed off.
" As along as she takes care of herself and comes in for regular check-ups, she and the baby should be fine," she assured him.
Roshni and Varun cheered and took turns hugging him. They let him go see her first.
Prithvi was delighted to know Damini was fine and they were going to be parents. He sat down beside her bed and took her hand in his. She began to regain consciousness.
She opened her eyes and saw Prithvi. She squeezed his hand. Why had she felt so weak. Prithvi decided to test her like they had with Avani.
"Prithvi what happened to me? I was just..," she trailed off.
"You don't take care of yourself Damini. How are we ever going to have children of our own if you don't care about your health," he hissed.
She frowned.
"Prithvi aisa kuch nahin hai. I want to have kids with you. Please don't think…," she trailed off.
" Aagar tum aaj pregnant hoti, toh kya tum khush hoti ?," he inquired.
She smiled.
"Of course Prithvi. I would very happy to share that news with you," she replied.
Prithvi smiled.
" Ek khush kabri hai meri biwi. You are pregnant!, We are going to be parents!," he exclaimed.
She smiled and said," Kash yeh meri line hoti. I should have been the one to give you the news. I had a feeling but wasn't sure if I was," she said.
He leaned over and kissed her forehead. She caressed his cheek. Then they both put their hands on her abdomen. Their eyes met and they whispered," Humara baccha."
Everyone was delighted to hear the news. Of course the family was going to take turns monitoring her eating and sleeping habits for the next several months. When she went for her four months appointment, the doctor confirmed they were having twins. However she took Prithvi aside and told him it could be complicated.
" According to Damini's family history and her personal history we may need to induce the pregnancy a few weeks early. However we shall try our best to make sure the twins are fully developed before we deliver," she assured him
He thanked her for letting him know. Now he had to make sure Damini was extra cared for. Prithvi was concerned but happy for the first set of twins to be born in their family. Damini's godhbari came three months later. All the married women came to bless her. Roshni watched everything and wished she could bless her sister too.
" Roshni tu abhi choti hai. Tera bhi waqt aya gaya,, '' Avani assured her.
Ila understood that Roshni wanted to be married soon. However she knew Damin's delivery could be difficult so she wanted to assure her grandchildren and her oldest daughter were safe before talking to Suman about Varun and Roshni's marriage.
Another month passed. Prithvi and Damini were sleeping in their room when a sudden craving urged Damini to awaken. She glanced at Prithvi and decided not to bother him. She would go down and get her ice cream and come back.
She was about to get up when a sudden pain came to her. She tried to hold in her screams but soon she was in tears and she felt the fluid come out. Her water had broken.
Prithvi lurched awake and was by her side. She was sitting on the side of the bed doing breathing excerises as she tried to calm herself.
"It's time," she gasped between breaths.
" Ok we are going to go to the hospital now," he exclaimed. He grabbed her duffel bag and placed it on the bed. He went quickly to awaken Illa and called Sameer and Avani. Damini wanted Avani with her during her delivery. His own mother would arrive with them as well.
They all rushed to hospital where Damini was rushed for a c-section. Three hours later the doctor met with them.
" The twins need to be kept here for a few days but they are doing well," she assured them.
" What about Damini?,'' Prithvi inquired.
" She is still asleep. She needs some rest, but you all can view the twins from the nursey window," she stated.
Prithvi talked to the doctor aside.
" Were there any complications," he inquired.
" To be honest, Damini was in a lot of pain. She should awaken in some time. I do recommend waiting at least two years before trying to have more children, This took a lot out of her," she stated.
Prithvi thanked her and went to see the twins.
There was one boy and one girl. Prithvi smiled as his family cooed and awed at their two new additions.
" Beta inke naam sooch hain?," Suman inquired.
Prithvi nodded. It was just as he and Damini hoped.
" Well for our son it will be Avinash and our daughter will be named Diya," he declared.
Everyone smiled.
" Varun, our nephew is as cute as I was. Let's hope he builds a body like Prithvi Bhaiya, is a stud like I was and a genius like you," Sameer stated.
Avani glared at him before saying," Aur Diya humari Damini Di jaisi strong, my teachings and Roshni's cuteness," she declared.
Prithvi was happy but he really wanted to see how Damini was doing. He excused himself for a second and walked over to the receptionist to see which room she was shifted to.
Damini was just opening her eyes. Were the last few months a dream? Where was Prithvi, their family and the twins? Then she saw Prithvi, she smiled at him.
" The twins are fine. We have our Avinash and our Diya," he declared.
She sighed with relief.
" Good, sub kuch theek to hai."
" Yes everything is fine. You just need to take care of yourself then I will bring the twins here to see you. How are you feeling?," he inquired.
" I'm still groggy and sore. But it was totally worth it. I am so happy Prithvi," she declared.
He held her hand and kissed her forehead.
" Same here. We got so much to be grateful for," he whispered.
