Hello all you lovely LRL-ians!!😃 Well, I shouldn't be exactly sitting here and typing this topic with an exam tomorrow, but anyway, I couldn't stop myself!😛 Ok, now today, I had a long long chat with a very close friend of mine over the phone (ya., lol...crazy na?😛 I hav an SST xam tomorrow and I'm chatting wid my frnd over the phone..I must be twisted!😆😆) So anyway,. since we're in tenth now, we all kinda have to choose our subjects and all in eleventh. So, we were jus talking about that and she was kinda sad coz she really wanted to take up biology and go into medical whereas her parents were adament that she does her MBA which she incidetally has no interest in.

The last week saw us all see a different side of Abhimanyu and come to know the truth and the reason behind him joining the army..his father. And we all saw how he didn't want to join the army and how he doesn't fit in here. He has a passion for music and always had, but he couldn't get into it because his dad didn't want him to. Well, we all saw how he feels today, with insecurity and depression since he feels he's a misfit in the army.

Now, I see this thing around me quite a lot lately, coz basically, this is one time in my life and everyone whos in tenth, when, apart from boards tension, we've got to pick up our subjects for eleventh which consequentely decide our careers later in life. I see friends of mine wanting to get into one kind of career but their parents or family asking them to do comething else, more like get into "safe" careers or careers which they htemselves as youngsters could not pursue.

So, here are some questions I came up with;

- Do you think it's right when parents push theioir children into a career which their children don't want to get into?
- Do you think that at a young age, teenagers themselves have the maturity to decide what's right for them in the future?
- What can be the consequences if one does get into a career one doesn't like?

Since we have both grown-ups and teenagers and many members studying in college here, I just wanted to know what all of you thought about this. Waiting for your replies!

I'll post mine soon...but plzzz do get into the discussion..😳

Great topic Preru 👏 👏 👏 , and no, you aren't twisted...I'm in 12th, haven't studied at all for the past two months, and have exams starting day after tomorrow 😆 😆 😆 ...

What you've said is right...parents do force their children sometimes...but only time can tell whether their decision makes you or breaks you...

I wanted to go for Arts, because I want to go for Journalism, but my mom made me take Commerce(she wanted me to go for Science 🤢 )....I am not very good at this, but yeah...I am in the top 20 in my class of 60...

I protested a lot, but my mom told me that she made me take Comm to provide an alternative base...supposing I didn't gel as a journo...or wanted to go into media consulting, etc.. Here she is justified...

I have seen many people who force their children into certain streams of their choice, thus destroying their confidence, and even their mental health....

I think the children and parents should sit together and talk openly about what they all want, the pros, and the cons..

It should be a joint decision....

- Do you think it's right when parents push theioir children into a career which their children don't want to get into?

no not at all,it will ruin the life of an individual completely, they may develop -ve thoughts towards their parents.
- Do you think that at a young age, teenagers themselves have the maturity to decide what's right for them in the future?

ya,they have that much maturity to choose the stream which they want n they r not dumb they have some particular thoughts n dreams related to their future.n if they face failure in future also they can be satisfied that they spoiled their life with their own hands n instead of that they face failure in that field which their parents had chosen for them to do they will blame their parents their entire life time.
- What can be the consequences if one does get into a career one doesn't like?

first of all they dont show any interest n they get less marks n most of the humanbeings have 1 bad habit called"comparison" they compare themselves with their parents, they will neglect their studies in the starting n when exams r nearing they will face probs like strss, depression etc

n finally its all abt our future,so its better to do wat we want to do.

(ya., lol...crazy na?😛 I hav an SST xam tomorrow and I'm chatting wid my frnd over the phone..I must be twisted!😆😆)omg u r ......😉 So anyway,. since we're in tenth now, sound interesting we all kinda have to choose our subjects and all in eleventh. of course..... abhi se thats good i mean future planning👏👏👏So, we were jus talking about that and she was kinda sad coz she really wanted to take up biologyhmmm that nice like me😛 and go into medical whereas her parents were adament that she does her MBA 😭 so sad which she incidetally has no interest in. 😭 i hate commerce lol

Well, we all saw how he feels today, with insecurity and depression since he feels he's a misfit in the army. u r absolutely right😃😳

Now, I see this thing around me quite a lot lately, coz basically, this is one time in my life and everyone whos in tenth, when, apart from boards tension, we've got to pick up our subjects for eleventh which consequentely decide our careers later in life. I see friends of mine wanting to get into one kind of career but their parents or family asking them to do comething else, more like get into "safe" careers or careers which they htemselves as youngsters could not pursue. ur point is good even i hv notice that parents force their children to fulfill their wishes so that their status remains high😡😡 but its not good for every children as they hv their own dreans😳😊

So, here are some questions I came up with; 👏

- Do you think it's right when parents push theioir children into a career which their children don't want to get into?

hmmm wot i think is that no coz children hv their own dreams that they want to fulfill it and they hv prepared for it first😊. if parents push their children to take career of their own choice then children will not able to adopt the career completely and they get upset mentally and psychologically which is not good for health as well as for their future. suppose they can fulfill it and become successful in career of parents' choice then also they hv some feeling in their corner of heart that they didnt able to fulfill their dream. so i think parents should encourage their child dream and accept as their own wish😊😃. for instance, my parents accepted my dream to become biotechnology and help me to encourage my dream. they even left country for me. now they r encouraging my bro dream as he want to enter in finance field😃. i hope i hv not bored u yet coz i hv 2 answer two more questions😆

- Do you think that at a young age, teenagers themselves have the maturity to decide what's right for them in the future?

my answer for this question is that in some facts they r able to decide it coz they knw in which field they r more developed. from this they get idea and can decide their destiny😊. but the most imp is that parents support is also require to give courage to them so both need one another support. so it depends more on students that which fiels they want to enter 😳 similarly when new baby born, no one knws wot is spoken by baby and when they develop, they themselves start speaking and parents help them to improve 😛. in this way parents should do for youngster😊

- What can be the consequences if one does get into a career one doesn't like?

as i mention above that student can fulfill their parents wish against their dream but they get upset mentally and psychologically which is beneficial for them. if the field is changed then its very difficult for them to study even tough its hard and i think its not good at all. supposedly, my parents want me to enter commerce stream then definetly i m gonna die😭 coz i dunno anything in business as i m topper in science subject😳😃😉. this is fact and i m accepting and i knw that my parents will never push me against my dream so above r some effects that can occur if one go against their own dream. its my humble request to all pls respect ur parents but never leave ur dream as u r more intelligent in subjects in which u want to make ur career and parents should support them instead of forcing them their own wish coz if ur children r happy then u r happy😊

Since we have both grown-ups and teenagers and many members studying in college here, I just wanted to know what all of you thought about this. Waiting for your replies! i did it 😃 hope i hv not bored u all😳

I'll post mine soon...but plzzz do get into the discussion..😳 waiting for ur answer😊

Actually NO, bec. this makes the child dependent n also the child may not b interested to do that n will just for the heck of doing will do it. This might kill the childs interest, desire, dream
-Do you think that at a young age, teenagers themselves have the maturity to decide what's right for them in the future?

Well at some cases YES, I mean they can for themselves decide wat they need to do.

But b'fore that parents must ask thier child wat he/she wants to do & if the child has a plan , parents can help the child to do it in a right way. But if parents think the child is in a wrong way, then they can explain it to him/her.
- What can be the consequences if one does get into a career one doesn't like?

Due to lack of interest, one might end up ruining his / her career. This could b a major disaster in itself.

Hey Preru nice topic👏

- Do you think it's right when parents push theioir children into a career which their children don't want to get into?

it depends on wht careeer option they want to choose, but i still feel its very important for teh child to like it cuz ultimately he/shes gonna study n work. So there shld be a proper understanding btw parents n children

- Do you think that at a young age, teenagers themselves have the maturity to decide what's right for them in the future?

No one can decide whts right for the in the future😆.Future is unpredictable. But i strongly believ students shld pursue whtever interests them

- What can be the consequences if one does get into a career one doesn't like?

They mite not enjoy their work which is very important. And they'll always regret joining tht particular careeer option

Gr8 topic preru,and all the best for ur exams😃........Ammu ,u too😳😊
