Finally it was the d-day. After two rigorous days of applying for leave and trying to get out of the research project, she was sitting in her car driving towards the jungle. Even then, she couldn't help but feel apprehensive about the forest. She had researched about it in the Internet, but got nothing. Her boss, Mr. Bhargav, had been very inconsiderate, to say the least. But then again, she thought wryly, he always was. There was never a time where he actually showed some kind of sympathy for anyone. She fervently hoped she could find a huge gorilla in the forest to 'present' it to him.

Huda was bored. And by bored, I mean he was so fed up he could've gladly eaten his own head. He didn't know what was wrong with the forest. Everything was always so cheerful and friendly, and the little new animals always seemed to be scared of him, but today everything was different. There were no little animals left for him to scare, he was actually supposed to be preparing 'dinner' before Pagheera and the others came back, but he was procrastinating, and didn't know the reason for it.

And then he heard the distant sound of a car screeching. It seemed to come from the outskirts of the forest. And he, being the inquisitive one, went to check. And he saw a human being. At least, he thought he saw a human being. He had only seen human beings once before when he and Pagheera had gone spying. She looked the same, she had two hands, two feet and she seemed to be walking on her feet. And the strangest thing was that she was wearing clothes. And her hair was long and flowing down.

And then Naina looked up to the humongous beast-man comparing herself to a Lilliputian facing Gulliver.

'Hello.' She said tentatively.

He smiled, in what he thought was a very charming and classy way, but she cringed.

'Hello.'

And there was no more to say. The silence was awkward and he kept on shifting his jaws clenching on the ground.

'Are you an beast-man?' she blurted out, before realizing that she could be seriously hurt by this.. this.. whatever.

His looked up mildly surprised, he had heard no one compliment him before. (of course he didn't know what beast man meant, otherwise he would've thought otherwise.)

'Yes.' He replied, puffing his chest proudly, ' Beast Man Huda.'

She smiled at his childish enthusiasm.

And for the first time in his life, he felt dazzled by the mere curve of her lips twitching upwards.
