On Saturday evening, Jassi Kaur of K Street fame (currently Simran of Left Right Left) had a nightmarish experience at the Navy Ball in Colaba. Jasvir and her friends entered the event at 8.15 pm.
Says an eyewitness, "Jasvir and her friends were dancing with gay abandon. When some of her friends got tired, they sat down for a while at one end of the stage.
The DJ had instructed not to let anybody come and request him for songs because he was getting disturbed. Seeing these girls, some of the naval security guys went up to them and asked them to get up. Jasvir and her friends were getting up, but the guys became very rude. This irked Jasvir's gang, and a big altercation followed."
Reform school
When contacted, Jasvir admitted to the incident. She said that one of the Navy guys, Samir Singh (Jassi had read his name from his badge), just stood there and kept looking at one of her friends, who was wearing a deep-neck top. "She felt so uncomfortable that she confronted him.
The cheeky guy told her 'Tere mein aisa kya hai jo mein dekhu?' (What do you have that I should look at you?) When we asked them if they had no respect for women, Samir said that they didn't. That was the limit. We didn't wait any more and left."
Jasvir vows never to attend the Navy Ball again. "I come every year, but never again. If they don't know how to respect people, I don't think anybody should join their revelry before they reform themselves."
