| Objects of affection: Aamna in her living room; the lady in the hat is a present from Rajeev Khandelwal | When Aamna Shariff says her newly furnished house in Andheri means the world to her, she literally means it.
Having picked up artefacts from Egypt, Dubai, Bahrain, Malaysia and wherever else she has travelled, Aamna has brought the entire world to her doorstep.
An 1,800 sq feet three-bedroom flat, this is the first house Aamna has purchased with her hard-earned money. "It was very emotional for me when I brought my mom to my new flat. I always wanted to have a house of my own. This is one of my biggest dreams come true," she says.
Paying attention to every minute detail, Aamna spent hours working on the interiors.
| Eat your art out: Dining area | "I initially hired someone to design the look, but was very unhappy with the work. I couldn't even think of compromising. It's like getting married, a lifetime investment. That's when I decided to take the task into my own hands."
Right from the Persian carpets to the small flower vases, everything in the house has been hand picked by the actress. "This year, a lot of my close friends gifted me things for my house. I have used all of these gifts in my house."
Living room
| Bag lady: Aamna's exclusive closet for her handbags | This room is divided into three areas — the casual sitting, formal sitting and the hookah corner. I usually have my work related meetings in the formal sitting on the couch and sofa.
My hookah corner is strictly for friends to chill out and unwind. I don't believe in having a television in the living room. Instead, I've installed a surround sound music system.
Manpasand pieces
Fountain artefact I was searching a lot for a fountain that looks exquisite. I finally picked this one up from a store in the city. I like to put some water in it and have floating candles. It looks really pretty. Rajeev's gift The lady in the hat is Rajeev's gift to me. He gave it to me this year on my birthday. It's really special to me.
Crystal lotus I got this from Dubai and it cost me a bomb. I have some beautiful crystal stuff that I have kept in my living room.
| Her favourite: The bedroom | Aamna's bedroom
This is my favourite room in the entire house. It completely relaxes me when I come back from work.
The linen on the bed has been picked from my trip to Egypt.
The picture framed above the bed is from one of my earlier photo shoots. I like the picture, so I decided to blow it up and put it above my bed.
| Care for a cuppa? Chai corner | Chai corner
I love to sit by the window and have my morning cuppa. I have used a 'venge' look through out my house when it comes to furniture. I love the dark chocolate colour, so I have maintained it in all my furnishings.
Walk-in wardrobe
All my friends love my wardrobe area. There are four wardrobes in totality and they occupy a huge area of my room.
One of them is filled with my bags, one with my clothes, others with accessories and one drawer is full of shoes. I like to dress up, and it's important that I look good when I step out of my house.
| Smellin' good: Perfume collection | Perfume obsession
I love my perfumes. I buy a lot of them when I am travelling abroad. I have a separate section just for them.
Actually, after my clothes wardrobe, it's my perfume and accessories that occupy a lot of space.
My dining area has a beautiful mirror and some lovely candle stands. |
